[0:00](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/06kDDL7H96SU/en/what-is-the-i-consciousness-and-what-comes-before-i-am) Before anything else can come, I is there.

[0:05](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/06kDDL7H96SU/en/what-is-the-i-consciousness-and-what-comes-before-i-am?t=5) What is I? I must be the experiencer.

[0:11](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/06kDDL7H96SU/en/what-is-the-i-consciousness-and-what-comes-before-i-am?t=11) Before anything can be seen through the mind or the senses, it must report to this I. What is this I?

[0:24](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/06kDDL7H96SU/en/what-is-the-i-consciousness-and-what-comes-before-i-am?t=24) This I, you may call it consciousness.

[0:28](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/06kDDL7H96SU/en/what-is-the-i-consciousness-and-what-comes-before-i-am?t=28) Without consciousness, nothing exists or can be perceived.

[0:34](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/06kDDL7H96SU/en/what-is-the-i-consciousness-and-what-comes-before-i-am?t=34) So all people are perceiving. They are saying, report, I did this, I saw this person, you know? I, I, I. They don't understand I. If you don't understand I, you don't understand anything else really.

[0:47](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/06kDDL7H96SU/en/what-is-the-i-consciousness-and-what-comes-before-i-am?t=47) If you're told, "Who are you?" "I'm John."

[0:50](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/06kDDL7H96SU/en/what-is-the-i-consciousness-and-what-comes-before-i-am?t=50) It's enough? So for me, it's not enough.

[0:55](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/06kDDL7H96SU/en/what-is-the-i-consciousness-and-what-comes-before-i-am?t=55) When you found out who am I, you have come to the very core of knowledge.

[1:01](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/06kDDL7H96SU/en/what-is-the-i-consciousness-and-what-comes-before-i-am?t=61) Even I knows knowledge.

[1:05](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/06kDDL7H96SU/en/what-is-the-i-consciousness-and-what-comes-before-i-am?t=65) I knows knowingness and ignorance. That's how powerful I is.

[1:11](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/06kDDL7H96SU/en/what-is-the-i-consciousness-and-what-comes-before-i-am?t=71) What is I?

[1:15](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/06kDDL7H96SU/en/what-is-the-i-consciousness-and-what-comes-before-i-am?t=75) What is I? If you got up at 7:00 this morning, at 6:59:59, what was your state?

[1:23](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/06kDDL7H96SU/en/what-is-the-i-consciousness-and-what-comes-before-i-am?t=83) No I. No I. Still you exist. But the I, which is consciousness, also arose.

[1:35](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/06kDDL7H96SU/en/what-is-the-i-consciousness-and-what-comes-before-i-am?t=95) When the I arose, you say, "I'm up, now I'm awake."

[1:38](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/06kDDL7H96SU/en/what-is-the-i-consciousness-and-what-comes-before-i-am?t=98) And then the I, the functioning I, comes into play.

[1:42](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/06kDDL7H96SU/en/what-is-the-i-consciousness-and-what-comes-before-i-am?t=102) Only when the I as consciousness arises, then the world, the sense of myself as a living entity, relationship, time, all that comes with the arising of consciousness. With the arising of I comes the world.

[1:58](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/06kDDL7H96SU/en/what-is-the-i-consciousness-and-what-comes-before-i-am?t=118) The world is contained in the I. I or I am and consciousness or beingness are all synonymous together.

[2:11](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/06kDDL7H96SU/en/what-is-the-i-consciousness-and-what-comes-before-i-am?t=131) If I arises, it cannot be the absolute.

[2:17](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/06kDDL7H96SU/en/what-is-the-i-consciousness-and-what-comes-before-i-am?t=137) If I arises, then it must arise in something that is, that didn't ari- it did not arise. What is that?

[2:27](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/06kDDL7H96SU/en/what-is-the-i-consciousness-and-what-comes-before-i-am?t=147) So I say that is something before I, before I am
