[0:06](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/3lhOIYri7ehh/en/periyava-s-advice-on-life-goals-devotion-and-service-to-the-nation?t=6) This is one of the greatest things in my life, a great blessing from God. [0:12](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/3lhOIYri7ehh/en/periyava-s-advice-on-life-goals-devotion-and-service-to-the-nation?t=12) The first speaker said that if devotion to God and patriotism are to go together, the Elder said something that was an instruction to my father. [0:22](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/3lhOIYri7ehh/en/periyava-s-advice-on-life-goals-devotion-and-service-to-the-nation?t=22) That is, if you walk facing the sun, the shadow follows behind you, even if you don't want it to. [0:30](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/3lhOIYri7ehh/en/periyava-s-advice-on-life-goals-devotion-and-service-to-the-nation?t=30) But if you go chasing your shadow, you'll get neither the sun nor the shadow. [0:34](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/3lhOIYri7ehh/en/periyava-s-advice-on-life-goals-devotion-and-service-to-the-nation?t=34) Likewise, if in life you pursue a good goal, money, status, and fame will all follow. Even if you don't want them, they'll follow. [0:44](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/3lhOIYri7ehh/en/periyava-s-advice-on-life-goals-devotion-and-service-to-the-nation?t=44) But if we go after something, determined to attain it, we'll lose that worthy goal too. And we won't attain this either. [0:52](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/3lhOIYri7ehh/en/periyava-s-advice-on-life-goals-devotion-and-service-to-the-nation?t=52) So, all children... We must have devotion to our guru. [0:57](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/3lhOIYri7ehh/en/periyava-s-advice-on-life-goals-devotion-and-service-to-the-nation?t=57) We must have devotion to God. We must serve our country. We must serve our nation. [1:03](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/3lhOIYri7ehh/en/periyava-s-advice-on-life-goals-devotion-and-service-to-the-nation?t=63) With such a primary objective. That's why, as the saying goes, what doesn't develop at five won't develop at fifty. [1:10](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/3lhOIYri7ehh/en/periyava-s-advice-on-life-goals-devotion-and-service-to-the-nation?t=70) From a young age, we must prepare ourselves. [1:17](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/3lhOIYri7ehh/en/periyava-s-advice-on-life-goals-devotion-and-service-to-the-nation?t=77) We must work in our own country. [1:25](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/3lhOIYri7ehh/en/periyava-s-advice-on-life-goals-devotion-and-service-to-the-nation?t=85) A saying from the Bhagavata: Only by a guru's grace can one attain complete peace. By the guru's grace, may we all, and the whole world, be well. What is it today? [1:36](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/3lhOIYri7ehh/en/periyava-s-advice-on-life-goals-devotion-and-service-to-the-nation?t=96) After my father received his PhD, he apparently showed it to my grandmother. [1:40](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/3lhOIYri7ehh/en/periyava-s-advice-on-life-goals-devotion-and-service-to-the-nation?t=100) She said, "Let that be, dear." You must come to the mutt and receive the Shastra Ratna. Only then will I be happy," she said. [1:46](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/3lhOIYri7ehh/en/periyava-s-advice-on-life-goals-devotion-and-service-to-the-nation?t=106) Today, from Periyava's own hands, receiving this honor is a great, great blessing, I believe. All those who selected me for this, I I express my heartfelt thanks. [2:00](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/3lhOIYri7ehh/en/periyava-s-advice-on-life-goals-devotion-and-service-to-the-nation?t=120) May we all be well. Jai Hind. Jai Shri Ram. [2:08](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/3lhOIYri7ehh/en/periyava-s-advice-on-life-goals-devotion-and-service-to-the-nation?t=128) Thank you so much for those valuable words.
