[1:15](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/OWIWrquNhdBP/en/patrick-stewart-dies-at-86-star-trek-and-x-men-actor-remembered?t=75) It simply says, "In lieu of flow- flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Johns Hopkins Alzheimer's Disease Research Center Fund and Alzheimer's Foundation of America Caregiver Res- Resources." Uh, he, of course, was a classically trained actor, uh, with a career spanning 60 years. I wonder if either of our panel had any thoughts

[1:41](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/OWIWrquNhdBP/en/patrick-stewart-dies-at-86-star-trek-and-x-men-actor-remembered?t=101) to share. Well, first of all, um, he, uh, was much loved in Stratford-on-Avon, I can tell you.

[1:48](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/OWIWrquNhdBP/en/patrick-stewart-dies-at-86-star-trek-and-x-men-actor-remembered?t=108) Um, I had the privilege of, uh, being, uh, in the theater when he played, uh, Shylock in The Merchant of Venice, um, uh, under Greg Doran, uh, I think it was at the time. An extraordinary actor, and may he rest in eternal peace.

[2:08](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/OWIWrquNhdBP/en/patrick-stewart-dies-at-86-star-trek-and-x-men-actor-remembered?t=128) I think he came from Yorkshire as well, if I remember rightly.

[2:11](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/OWIWrquNhdBP/en/patrick-stewart-dies-at-86-star-trek-and-x-men-actor-remembered?t=131) But also, I think, you know, in terms of his own upbringing, I think his mother was very, you know, um, such an important part in his life.

[2:17](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/OWIWrquNhdBP/en/patrick-stewart-dies-at-86-star-trek-and-x-men-actor-remembered?t=137) And, uh, I don't know, you know, how it carried on, but I know when, you know, I was an MP, he was also a, a Labor supporter as well.

[2:24](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/OWIWrquNhdBP/en/patrick-stewart-dies-at-86-star-trek-and-x-men-actor-remembered?t=144) And, uh, you know, I think also just came across as a really decent guy.

[2:28](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/OWIWrquNhdBP/en/patrick-stewart-dies-at-86-star-trek-and-x-men-actor-remembered?t=148) I think when you met him at events, Labor Party events, you know, he was a very natural, warm person, and I think what you saw on screen came across in real life.

[2:37](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/OWIWrquNhdBP/en/patrick-stewart-dies-at-86-star-trek-and-x-men-actor-remembered?t=157) So we understand that he's died following a brief and poignant journey with Alzheimer's disease. He was 86 years old.

[2:45](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/OWIWrquNhdBP/en/patrick-stewart-dies-at-86-star-trek-and-x-men-actor-remembered?t=165) Of course, he is such a recognizable face- Mm ... as you say, uh, in Star Trek, in X-Men. Uh, also, I think it was a Yorkshire Tea adverts, as you say- ... which a lot of people will remember him from.
