[0:11](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/ajN9BlEy2YCm/en/how-to-use-an-emergency-thermal-blanket-to-reduce-heat-loss?t=11) What is this move? This move can be used for carrying someone on your back.

[0:17](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/ajN9BlEy2YCm/en/how-to-use-an-emergency-thermal-blanket-to-reduce-heat-loss?t=17) Does everyone know how to use — a real thermal blanket?

[0:20](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/ajN9BlEy2YCm/en/how-to-use-an-emergency-thermal-blanket-to-reduce-heat-loss?t=20) — No. This is standard issue. It's just like these nitrile gloves, and this hemostatic gauze— they're all standard issue.

[0:29](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/ajN9BlEy2YCm/en/how-to-use-an-emergency-thermal-blanket-to-reduce-heat-loss?t=29) Today, I'm going to show you how to use this thermal blanket.

[0:33](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/ajN9BlEy2YCm/en/how-to-use-an-emergency-thermal-blanket-to-reduce-heat-loss?t=33) Suppose this person is a relatively tall individual.

[0:45](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/ajN9BlEy2YCm/en/how-to-use-an-emergency-thermal-blanket-to-reduce-heat-loss?t=45) How do you fold it? Any way you like, just tie a knot.

[0:54](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/ajN9BlEy2YCm/en/how-to-use-an-emergency-thermal-blanket-to-reduce-heat-loss?t=54) The thermal blanket should fit snugly against your body.

[0:58](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/ajN9BlEy2YCm/en/how-to-use-an-emergency-thermal-blanket-to-reduce-heat-loss?t=58) Let's do this with him wearing his clothes.

[1:07](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/ajN9BlEy2YCm/en/how-to-use-an-emergency-thermal-blanket-to-reduce-heat-loss?t=67) Tuck all the fabric tightly into the opening.

[1:17](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/ajN9BlEy2YCm/en/how-to-use-an-emergency-thermal-blanket-to-reduce-heat-loss?t=77) You're wearing your clothes now, right? You're wearing your top.

[1:21](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/ajN9BlEy2YCm/en/how-to-use-an-emergency-thermal-blanket-to-reduce-heat-loss?t=81) Scan him with a thermal camera. He has no heat signature, because the aluminum lining blocks his body heat.

[1:29](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/ajN9BlEy2YCm/en/how-to-use-an-emergency-thermal-blanket-to-reduce-heat-loss?t=89) That way, you can reduce heat loss as much as possible.

[1:33](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/ajN9BlEy2YCm/en/how-to-use-an-emergency-thermal-blanket-to-reduce-heat-loss?t=93) Even the machines can't detect him now, right?

[1:36](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/ajN9BlEy2YCm/en/how-to-use-an-emergency-thermal-blanket-to-reduce-heat-loss?t=96) — Doesn't this keep you warm? Yes. Does draping it over you keep you warm?

[1:40](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/ajN9BlEy2YCm/en/how-to-use-an-emergency-thermal-blanket-to-reduce-heat-loss?t=100) — No, no. That's for keeping off the rain.

[1:43](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/ajN9BlEy2YCm/en/how-to-use-an-emergency-thermal-blanket-to-reduce-heat-loss?t=103) This is the proper way to use a thermal blanket.

[1:46](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/ajN9BlEy2YCm/en/how-to-use-an-emergency-thermal-blanket-to-reduce-heat-loss?t=106) I'm making sure the heat from your head and neck doesn't escape and stays within this small area, where it — does what?

[1:52](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/ajN9BlEy2YCm/en/how-to-use-an-emergency-thermal-blanket-to-reduce-heat-loss?t=112) — Circulates. A temperature cycle, right?

[1:56](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/ajN9BlEy2YCm/en/how-to-use-an-emergency-thermal-blanket-to-reduce-heat-loss?t=116) That way, you minimize heat loss. There are three people around you. If you do this, under the same physical condition and in the same climate, you can last two hours longer than they can.
