[0:06](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/jCrnybf662ci/en/claims-of-broadcast-manipulation-at-an-opening-ceremony?t=6) Every time the world gathers, someone controls the story. [0:13](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/jCrnybf662ci/en/claims-of-broadcast-manipulation-at-an-opening-ceremony?t=13) Every camera angle is chosen. Every broadcast is filtered. [0:19](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/jCrnybf662ci/en/claims-of-broadcast-manipulation-at-an-opening-ceremony?t=19) What you saw was the show. [0:23](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/jCrnybf662ci/en/claims-of-broadcast-manipulation-at-an-opening-ceremony?t=23) What happened was something else entirely. [0:26](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/jCrnybf662ci/en/claims-of-broadcast-manipulation-at-an-opening-ceremony?t=26) Pay attention. [0:33](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/jCrnybf662ci/en/claims-of-broadcast-manipulation-at-an-opening-ceremony?t=33) The broadcasters cut the feed before the speech was done. [0:38](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/jCrnybf662ci/en/claims-of-broadcast-manipulation-at-an-opening-ceremony?t=38) Millions of people watching, but they only got one version. [0:43](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/jCrnybf662ci/en/claims-of-broadcast-manipulation-at-an-opening-ceremony?t=43) The official record says everything went according to plan. [0:48](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/jCrnybf662ci/en/claims-of-broadcast-manipulation-at-an-opening-ceremony?t=48) But the people on the ground know that is not what happened. [0:54](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/jCrnybf662ci/en/claims-of-broadcast-manipulation-at-an-opening-ceremony?t=54) Things they don't want you to know. The opening ceremony had a segment that never aired. [0:59](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/jCrnybf662ci/en/claims-of-broadcast-manipulation-at-an-opening-ceremony?t=59) A portion of the performance was removed without explanation. [1:03](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/jCrnybf662ci/en/claims-of-broadcast-manipulation-at-an-opening-ceremony?t=63) And the rights holders approved the deletion before it reached the screen. [1:06](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/jCrnybf662ci/en/claims-of-broadcast-manipulation-at-an-opening-ceremony?t=66) Things they don't want you to know. The stadium announcements were translated differently in each language. [1:12](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/jCrnybf662ci/en/claims-of-broadcast-manipulation-at-an-opening-ceremony?t=72) What the Arabic broadcast said was not what the English one said. [1:15](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/jCrnybf662ci/en/claims-of-broadcast-manipulation-at-an-opening-ceremony?t=75) Two separate messages delivered to two separate audiences simultaneously. [1:20](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/jCrnybf662ci/en/claims-of-broadcast-manipulation-at-an-opening-ceremony?t=80) Things they don't want you to know. Three performers scheduled to appear were replaced 48 hours before. [1:26](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/jCrnybf662ci/en/claims-of-broadcast-manipulation-at-an-opening-ceremony?t=86) No public statement was given and no reason was officially recorded. [1:30](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/jCrnybf662ci/en/claims-of-broadcast-manipulation-at-an-opening-ceremony?t=90) The original lineup was quietly erased from every press document. [1:36](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/jCrnybf662ci/en/claims-of-broadcast-manipulation-at-an-opening-ceremony?t=96) The ceremony started at 7.42 and not at 8 o'clock as announced. [1:41](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/jCrnybf662ci/en/claims-of-broadcast-manipulation-at-an-opening-ceremony?t=101) Every major outlet reported the original time and never issued a correction. [1:46](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/jCrnybf662ci/en/claims-of-broadcast-manipulation-at-an-opening-ceremony?t=106) Over 160,000 people were physically present in that stadium. [1:52](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/jCrnybf662ci/en/claims-of-broadcast-manipulation-at-an-opening-ceremony?t=112) But the televised count given the media organizations was reduced to 80,000. [1:58](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/jCrnybf662ci/en/claims-of-broadcast-manipulation-at-an-opening-ceremony?t=118) The flags displayed in the opening sequence were arranged in a specific political order. [2:04](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/jCrnybf662ci/en/claims-of-broadcast-manipulation-at-an-opening-ceremony?t=124) Not alphabetical and not by continent the way the federation guidelines require. [2:10](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/jCrnybf662ci/en/claims-of-broadcast-manipulation-at-an-opening-ceremony?t=130) 11 nations were placed in prominent positions at the front of the visual arrangement. [2:15](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/jCrnybf662ci/en/claims-of-broadcast-manipulation-at-an-opening-ceremony?t=135) And 14 nations were moved to positions that were barely visible on the broadcast. [2:21](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/jCrnybf662ci/en/claims-of-broadcast-manipulation-at-an-opening-ceremony?t=141) There were protesters outside the venue and they were present from 6 in the morning. [2:28](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/jCrnybf662ci/en/claims-of-broadcast-manipulation-at-an-opening-ceremony?t=148) The security perimeter was expanded three times before the ceremony actually began. [2:34](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/jCrnybf662ci/en/claims-of-broadcast-manipulation-at-an-opening-ceremony?t=154) No footage of the perimeter expansion was included in any of the official broadcast packages. [2:40](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/jCrnybf662ci/en/claims-of-broadcast-manipulation-at-an-opening-ceremony?t=160) The drone footage that captured this was licensed and they never released to any outlet. [2:48](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/jCrnybf662ci/en/claims-of-broadcast-manipulation-at-an-opening-ceremony?t=168) The broadcasters cut the feed before the speech was done. [2:54](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/jCrnybf662ci/en/claims-of-broadcast-manipulation-at-an-opening-ceremony?t=174) Millions of people watching.
