[0:00](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/yGktPVI2GmvG/en/9-11-witness-recalls-taking-cover-as-world-trade-center-tower-collapsed) And I was walking on Broadway at Fullerton, and suddenly we heard an explosion.

[0:06](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/yGktPVI2GmvG/en/9-11-witness-recalls-taking-cover-as-world-trade-center-tower-collapsed?t=6) It was the first tower coming down. And down Broadway, you could just see this wall of debris come flying at us.

[0:14](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/yGktPVI2GmvG/en/9-11-witness-recalls-taking-cover-as-world-trade-center-tower-collapsed?t=14) And we took-- I was by myself. I took cover in between a column and the building at One ninety-five Broadway.

[0:21](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/yGktPVI2GmvG/en/9-11-witness-recalls-taking-cover-as-world-trade-center-tower-collapsed?t=21) And we stood there probably-- We-- I crouched there probably for about a good five minutes.

[0:26](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/yGktPVI2GmvG/en/9-11-witness-recalls-taking-cover-as-world-trade-center-tower-collapsed?t=26) It took that long for all the debris to come by, for the air to clear.

[0:31](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/yGktPVI2GmvG/en/9-11-witness-recalls-taking-cover-as-world-trade-center-tower-collapsed?t=31) When I got up, I was covered head to toe with debris.

[0:34](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/yGktPVI2GmvG/en/9-11-witness-recalls-taking-cover-as-world-trade-center-tower-collapsed?t=34) They opened the building. The gates in that building had been locked.

[0:37](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/yGktPVI2GmvG/en/9-11-witness-recalls-taking-cover-as-world-trade-center-tower-collapsed?t=37) They opened the doors. We went inside. They had evacuated this building, which is some twenty-eight floors of commercial space, right after the first plane went into the World Trade Center.

[0:47](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/yGktPVI2GmvG/en/9-11-witness-recalls-taking-cover-as-world-trade-center-tower-collapsed?t=47) We stood in there. You could see. You could see outside.

[0:50](https://www.translate.mom/transcript/yGktPVI2GmvG/en/9-11-witness-recalls-taking-cover-as-world-trade-center-tower-collapsed?t=50) It looked like a war zone. Debris, dust ankle deep, cars on fire, cars turned to skew in the explosion.
