We handle information you provide when you use TranslateMom, including account details, media, links, transcripts, translations, task settings, and support requests. Our systems and service providers may also process technical information needed to operate, secure, and improve the service, such as device, browser, network, log, and usage information.
We use information to provide, maintain, secure, support, and improve TranslateMom. We may share information with service providers that process it on our behalf, when required by law, or when needed to protect users, TranslateMom, or the public. We do not sell Chrome extension data or use it for personalized advertising.
In version 0.4 and later, opening the extension reads the active page URL and title. After you allow optional website access, the extension observes media requests on permitted websites to detect videos and available qualities, including while the popup is closed. It handles page and media URLs, request metadata, video details, and thumbnails locally. It can inspect video elements to identify the visible or playing video. Older link-only versions send a selected page link to the TranslateMom web app.
Signing in connects the extension to your TranslateMom account through our website and Google Firebase Authentication. The extension stores your account ID, display name, email, and authentication tokens locally to keep you signed in. It does not ask for or read passwords from the websites you visit.
Preview clips are generated locally from media retrieved from the source website. Saving a video writes the selected file to your computer. When you request subtitles or a translation, the selected media or link and task settings are sent to TranslateMom for processing. Our authentication, hosting, storage, transcription, and translation service providers process data as needed to deliver that request. Media retrieval may use the browser session for the source website; the extension does not upload that website's cookies to TranslateMom.
The extension sends product events to our self-hosted PostHog service at hog.translate.mom. These include installation, updates, completed sign-in, and submission results, with fields such as extension version, source platform, task type, media size, and error code. Events use your account ID when signed in or a generated identifier stored on your device. These analytics payloads do not include page URLs, page titles, email addresses, authentication tokens, or media content. Servers may also receive network and technical information when handling requests.
Detected media and job metadata are kept in browser session storage. Preview clips are cached temporarily in the popup, and media processing can use temporary browser files. Sign-in information and preferences persist locally; signing out removes the saved session. Removing the extension clears its local storage, but does not delete files you saved or tasks already sent to TranslateMom. You can revoke website and download access in Chrome extension settings. Submitted media, task results, service logs, and analytics are retained as needed to provide the service, maintain security, and meet applicable obligations. Contact hello@translate.mom to request access, correction, or deletion, including information about server retention. Production requests to TranslateMom and its authentication and analytics services use HTTPS.
TranslateMom's use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use it to provide or improve the extension's video detection, preview, saving, subtitle, and translation features. We do not sell this data or use or transfer it for personalized advertising, creditworthiness, lending, or unrelated purposes.
We may update this Privacy Policy as TranslateMom changes. We will post the revised policy here and update the effective date above.
