Iran and Afghanistan Economic Cooperation

There are those who do not want relations between Iran and

Afghanistan to develop.

They have always caused mischief and will continue to do so in

the future.

Uh, as an example of their recent

mischief, um, there was an interview that

I had with Sahar Network, where I gave good news to the people

of Afghanistan and, of course, Iran.

Namely, based on the understanding reached with the Islamic

Republic, given that today, uh, especially with

the closure of Afghanistan's sea route

through the south,

uh, Chabahar Port

is very important for Afghanistan and for connecting this country,

especially Central—Central Asia,

through Afghanistan to the waters of the Persian Gulf and the

open sea, the Sea of Oman.

Uh, in that interview, I stated that under the agreement that was reached,

it has been decided that we provide ten hectares of

land at, uh, Chabahar Port and around one hundred hectares of

land in the free trade zone for

investment

by Afghanistan in the Chabahar region.

Meaning that, uh, Afghanistan comes into that

area and invests in those hundred hectares.

Then, it can establish a dry port or any

other facility it wants there, and we, uh, can

facilitate this country's access

to international waters. Well, this benefits both Afghanistan and

the Islamic Republic. In fact, the Islamic Republic's policy is

to invite domestic and foreign investors

to invest in the free zone. Unfortunately, one of

the virtual outlets

that has a long history of hostility toward

the Islamic Republic of Iran and of mischief in relations between the two countries

ran a headline, uh, under

the title that the Islamic Republic of Iran gave 110 hectares of its own land

to Afghanistan, and through lavish spending and

financial

expenditures, they tried to draw attention to this part

of my interview

and have it reposted across all

networks. Um, there are two reasons for this. The first reason is that, thank God, it shows

And this shows that our trip to Afghanistan

and

the events that have taken place are positive,

and this has angered the enemies of both countries, who are seeking

to provoke the people of Iran,

saying, “Why are you sitting there? 110 hectares of your land were given to

Afghanistan.” Well, those who are

experts understand that it is simply impossible

to give a country's land to another country with, say, a

memorandum of understanding.

But we take pride and have this readiness,

We open our arms to

Afghanistan's investment in the southern

waters, in the Makran region, in Chabahar.

And we will certainly, uh, make every effort

to increase our investment in addition to exports and imports

Afghanistan. Today, the Islamic Republic

is discussing major, billion-dollar projects

with Afghanistan. Despite, uh,

countries, today I tell the dear people of Iran and Afghanistan

Today, we discussed with Afghanistan a 700-kilometer

uh, railway between Herat and Mazar-e Sharif.

Preliminary agreements have been reached. Today, we also discussed with

Afghanistan

transporting Iranian oil via a pipeline.

We discussed it. We hope that in the coming years, we will witness

the establishment of

large

oil refineries, so to speak, in the region

of wes— western Afghanistan. Today, we

discussed with Afghanistan a joint

industrial town in the field of

agriculture, and God willing, we hope that despite

the hostility of the enemies of the two countries, we can further expand these

economic ties day by day.
