Impact of Israeli Airstrike on Gaza Hospital

It's not a volcanic crater, but a huge crater caused by an Israeli airstrike

that targeted a medicine warehouse at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital

in the central Gaza Strip. With me here is Dr. Ramah Hussein, the director of this hospital.

Doctor, what did you lose in this airstrike?

Yes, my dear brother, we had four central warehouses here

for Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, containing medical supplies and consumables for the hospital.

We made sure, because of the large size of the warehouses here,

to store consumables such as dressings and dialysis supplies.

We were shocked by the scene of massive destruction that the hospital suffered.

As two of these four warehouses completely disappeared after the strike,

and there are two others that are unusable or irreparable, so therefore,

we are now trying to contact all parties to repair what we can,

and revive the place, because without these warehouses,

we will not be able to store the required quantities.

And especially in the Middle Governorate, Al-Aqsa Martyrs is the only government hospital, the only hospital

that provides its services to more than 600,000 people living in the governorate.

We are now working with the relevant authorities to provide what is needed so that we can continue to provide our services

and not stop providing these services.

Doctor, basically, the Ministry of Health announces that it has a severe shortage

of medicines, consumables, and medical supplies. How will this additional shortage affect patients now?

Undoubtedly, there will be an impact. There will be a reduction in kidney dialysis hours,

and from there, transferring some patients for dialysis in other areas,

such as Khan Younis, Gaza, or other areas.

Because we have actually been living this crisis for three years, and nothing has changed.

And when materials are brought in, they are brought in in a very limited manner.

So now, with this major shortage that has occurred, there will be a direct impact on services

inside the hospital, and we are now having several meetings so that we can establish a vision and a way forward.

What will we provide tomorrow during the upcoming short period?

The crater martyrs are not the only scene resulting from the Israeli raid.

There are the tents of the displaced who took refuge in the hospital; they were not spared, nor was the hospital. Israeli raids are ongoing.

As if no agreement had been reached in the Egyptian city of El Alamein, Israel continues its violations,

targeting homes, residential blocks, tents, and even a hospital, without any deterrent.
