Yemen's September 21 Revolution Impact on Prisons

The September 21 Revolution brought about a blessed transformation

for Yemen as a state and a people, in the Security and Intelligence Service,

or what was known as the National Security and Political Security agencies,

which were deeply associated in people's minds with repression, torture, and even enforced disappearance.

Has this revolution led those now in charge to treat

prisoners as human beings? From inside these prisons,

we will explore the evidence with you.

On an extraordinary mission, beyond

the ordinary, we crossed the gates of the Security

and Intelligence Service's correctional facility and its many security systems to uncover

the hidden details of how prisoners are treated.

We began the tour with the officials at the gate and building

for visits.

This is the visitors' reception building, which consists of two reception areas:

one for women with children and one for men. There are female police officers

who receive the women, and male security personnel who receive the men.

Each destination is then determined, whether for

a visit, conjugal visits, or private visits.

This is the visitors' building, which consists of eight teen booths for communication between

the inmate and his family.

What is striking is that it is not limited to

communication. The revolution has honored the inmates' humanity

by allowing them to sit with their families in well-appointed rooms.

I am among my children. Thank God, my family and visitors come every

week.

When they were arrested, they said, "That's it, they disappeared." And now they pierce them with saws, and now

I don't know what they do to them. On my first visit, when I came, I immediately felt his body, to see

how

he had been tortured or not. But thank God, thank God, I saw him

well. Every day is better.

Everything, thank God, is fine. It's as if they are living in a hotel. My husband is imprisoned

and is treated very well. Before, they used to hide them, and we no longer knew anything about them.

The brutality of treatment we had expected gradually

began to fade. Good food and healthcare

are carefully provided to the inmates.

These rooms meet our needs as management,

staff, inmates, and also the neighboring residents.

We cover around 150 homes, whether for breakfast or the kitchen.

The unprecedented surprise is the presence of fields in such

prisons.

We were surprised. As soon as we arrived, they said, “You have a field,” and we went out to a turf field.

With grass, a volleyball court and a basketball court.

Nevertheless, we requested permission to enter the wards,

which we found fully equipped with facilities, to hear

the details from the inmate himself.

The treatment is excellent. Everyone testifies to that.

Extraordinary care.

Food, drink, and any requests we make,

they never fall short.

Food and drink arrive, and everything is in abundance.

Even the food is plentiful, everything is spacious, and requests

are fully met.

They do not let you down. They do not let you down.

They give you everything, chicken, rice, everything, and cooked food.

Welcome, dearest of the dear.

It has been a while since I had visitors and all that, and my homeland is far away in Razih.

The general prison director here arranged to bring my family here at their expense.

They will let me have ten days or 15 days here inside.

At the correctional facility, they provide lunch, breakfast, dinner qat, and everything else

at their own expense.

So they could not wait to leave Razih.

If anyone gets sick, they take them to the hospital, without fail.

The treatment is good at the Security and Intelligence Prison.

Daily lessons, through writing and through the booklets that

are issued by the cultural officials. Every day, we receive what includes

those who say, "Praise be to God, I'm safe, safe."

Those who do not want to speak, do not speak, and those who want to drink, drink. Everything is normal.

We were not forced to do anything. Anything

at all.

In light of the good treatment, under the directives of the

revolutionary leadership, reflecting the greatness of the approach of

the security apparatus officials, there is an emphasis on no leniency in

preserving the security of the homeland and its citizens, and for the judiciary

to impose the harshest punishment on those who commit crimes. The sharpest
