sometidos a limpieza étnica y genocidio.

The first day of a shockingly corrupted trial that exposes the British state's weaponization of censorship to crush a direct-action anti-war protest group has just ended. On April 13th, six activists from Palestine Action went back to court after being acquitted this February. They had already served a year in prison, in which they staged a hunger strike and one
attempted suicide under extremely harsh conditions. If convicted, the six Palestine Action activists and 18 others will likely be sentenced as terrorists facing long prison terms. However, the jury is not allowed to know that about the terrorist designation. They are instead being led to believe that they are ruling on simple criminal charges,
and if they do convict the defendants on those charges, the judge, a notoriously biased former barrister for the MI6 and Metropolitan Police named Jeremy Johnson, can then sentence them as terrorists. What's more, a court order prevents the British media from reporting any of the facts that I have just conveyed to you.
Activists will similarly be prohibited from telling jurors how their efforts sought to impede the genocide. They can't provide context at all. They're not allowed to mention Israel, the term genocide, or the target of their direct action, Israel's state-owned Elbit Systems weapons company.
Let's be completely clear. Nothing that Palestine Action has done meets the commonly understood definition of terrorism, which is subjective anyway. British national security officials admitted this during a secret meeting when they said that Palestine Action's activities were mostly confined to criminal damage, not terrorism.
And here's something else you're not allowed to know if you're in the UK. Home Secretary Yvette Cooper committed contempt of court for falsely alleging that Palestine Action deliberately targets people with acts of violence. The reality is that this group's activism focuses on destroying weapons and damaging and occupying Israeli arms factories on British soil.
Instead of aiming to harm people, they are trying to save the lives of Palestinian civilians subjected to ethnic cleansing and genocide. I personally believe what they have done is the contemporary equivalent of sabotaging the railways to Auschwitz. What Palestine Action does is also very effective, causing the closure of Israeli factories and
raising the cost of Israel's apartheid system. They're presenting a workable model for activists around the world seeking to do something more materially meaningful than simply marching and chanting slogans. And when they have been put on trial, juries have responded sympathetically when defendants explained why they had targeted Israeli arms factories and this has led to a series of
dramatic acquittals. Now the British security state is so threatened by the prospect of further acquittals that it is corrupting the entire jury system and perverting whatever is left of its democracy, all to protect an ethno-supremacist entity called Israel from the consequences of its genocidal actions.
Because the British public has been forbidden from learning these important facts, the responsibility has fallen to us at the Grey Zone to report them. We are an independent, US-based outlet whose mission is to tell you what they don't want you to know.
