Sermon on Love and Forgiveness

Dear Brothers, dear Sisters.

I will not hide that for me, this sermon is

difficult.

I will not hide that this time we have

been experiencing in a particular way lately

has been difficult for me.

But I know one thing,

that I am a disciple of Jesus Christ.

I am a disciple of my Master. I am a disciple

of my Lord,

and Christ teaches me love.

Love

that allowed itself to be crucified.

Love that gave its life for its

enemies.

Such is my Lord and Master,

and I am His servant.

And you know very well that

in many

situations, we priests have always

sought to serve here at the abbey with all our strength,

as best we could,

as we were able,

so that

those who come to us

might leave here comforted. They might receive

help. They might receive human kindness.

They might experience support.

And from this place,

as

a disciple of Jesus Christ

I wish, on my own behalf,

on behalf of Father Marek

and on behalf of Father Stanisław,

to state very emphatically that we forgive

and ask for prayers for us.

For prayers for Father Stanisław, for the repose of his

soul,

for Father Marek's health,

who is still fighting for his life in hospital,

and for me, that I may

return as soon as possible to the full performance of my duties

and continue serving you here.

But in a special way, I ask you for

prayer

for our assailant

and for the grace of conversion for him.

These words I am speaking, I speak from the depths of my heart.

He needs this prayer the most.

Because no matter what happened,

the evil that occurred here, in our

abbey,

we must overcome with goodness,

love

and forgiveness.

Therefore I ask you,

that you also forgive,

because it affected all of you too.

And from here, I also want to ask you not to blame

the nation the perpetrator came from,

because the evil was committed by a specific person.

The evil was committed by a specific, specific person,

who has a name,

a life of their own,

who is responsible for their actions.

Other people did not do this.

It was one, single person.

That is why I ask you

not to repay evil with evil,

but with love,

support,

understanding and care.

I ask you to respect the people

who live in our abbey,

in our city,

in our voivodeship and in our country.

I ask you to respect one another and

support each other as two brotherly nations.

When the war broke out in Ukraine,

you remember well what was happening in our abbey.

That we were open

to the people who came here.

People who needed help,

support, care, love.

Sometimes,

simply human, ordinary kindness.

And you know very well that here,

no one was left without help.

We worked with all our might,

often even spending many sleepless hours at night.

Therefore, I ask you

that our work,

our effort and our toil do not go to waste.

Because I think this is what we teach you here:

to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.

A disciple who loves,

who supports,

who cares for others.

Dear Brothers, dear Sisters,

and all of you who hear this,

let us be disciples of Christ.

Disciples who,

with love,

care,

respect,

help,

kindness,

help others.

It does not matter who they are,

what nation they come from,

what religion they are, or the color of their skin.

But they are human beings.

They have their dignity,

and let us not deprive anyone of their dignity.

Therefore, I ask you, let us pray for one another.

Let us care for one another

and love

all those we meet along the path of our lives.

And when we see injustice, when we see that

someone is persecuting another,

let us not remain silent,

but let us speak out,

for everyone should feel at home among us.

Not only in our abbey,

but throughout our entire nation.

Drodzy Bracia, drogie Siostry.

Jestem uczniem mojego Mistrza. Jestem uczniem mojego Pana,

a Chrystus uczy mnie miłości.

Ale w sposób szczególny proszę Was o modlitwę

Dlatego proszę was, abyście i wy przebaczyli, bo to również was wszystkich dotknęło.

wsparciem, zrozumieniem i troską. Proszę Was o szacunek dla ludzi, którzy żyją w naszym opactwie, w naszym mieście,

w naszym województwie i w naszym kraju.

Drodzy Bracia, drogie Siostry i wszyscy wy, którzy to słyszycie,

bądźmy uczniami Chrystusa. Uczniami, którzy miłością, troską, szacunkiem,

pomocą, życzliwością pomagają innym. Nieważne kim są, z jakiego narodu pochodzą,

jakiej są religii, koloru skóry. Ale są ludźmi. Mają swoją godność i my nie pozbawiajmy nikogo godności.
