Player's Journey to Benfica

Sini, you came from the lower divisions in Germany and you signed for Benfica, that is a great club.

What was your reaction when you first heard about Benfica's interest in signing you?

I was with my brother.

We were eating and he told me, hey, because like I'm used that many clubs are interested in me.

Like, even in Germany, every season there was like six, seven clubs that are interested in me.

Every year, in Estella also a lot of clubs.

But when he said Benfica, I was like, what, Benfica, you're lying.

I didn't believe him.

You know, I was so happy.

I went home and I told my girlfriend first, hey, Benfica is interested in me.

And she was like, what, really?

We were so happy because we came from so far.

We came from living in a small apartment to living in a nice house.

So she was so happy, I was happy.

And she and my brother was like, hey, don't lose your mind.

You still didn't sign yet.

You have to keep going on, you know.

So I was happy.

And when I signed my contract with Benfica, I was in the car with my girlfriend and she said like, do you realise what you did?

And then I started crying.

I never told anybody yet.

Only me and my girlfriend know this, but I started crying.
