Challenges of Education for Girls in Azerbaijan

Have you heard what happened outside school gates in Azerbaijan? Young girls

went to school to learn, but the hijab became

the reason they were barred from entering. O Muslim Ummah, how far

have we fallen? Has a little girl's hijab become a reason to deprive her of

an education? Where are mercy and justice? Imagine a little girl

carrying her bag and standing at her school gate.

She is not asking for money or anything impossible.

All she wants is to learn like the other girls, but she

is faced with a painful question: Should she remove her hijab or

give up her dream? O Allah, what pain is this? Did Allah Almighty

not say, “My Lord, increase me in knowledge”? How can we close the door

to education on a girl who wants to keep her hijab? O Muslim Ummah

remember the Day of Judgment, when we all stand before Allah, and neither

wealth nor status will benefit us. What will we say to our Lord if He asks about

a little girl's rights? How will we answer if we knew her pain and did not

care? Remember that Allah forgets no one's rights,

and we will be held accountable for every injustice on the Day of Judgment.

Do not make the school gate a gateway to sadness in the heart of a little girl.

O Allah, protect our daughters, strengthen their hearts, and open for them doors

of knowledge and goodness. Glory be to God. We conclude with the words of Prophet Jonah,

peace be upon him: There is no god but You. Glory be to You, indeed I was

among the wrongdoers.
