Queen of Thailand's Historic Fighter Jet Flight

The Queen of Thailand has just had her first solo flight in a

JAS 39 Gripen, making her the first reigning queen in

history to pilot a fighter jet. This happened just today at Wing seven

Air Base in Thailand. The historic 41-minute flight

was captured on cockpit cameras

showing the queen personally fly the supersonic fighter.

But she's actually a very experienced pilot with over 1,100 flight hours and

spent months training specifically for the Gripen.

Funnily enough, the King of Thailand is also a fighter pilot, having previously

flown F-5s and F-16s. The king personally congratulated her

after landing and presented her with a special golden Gripen patch.
