Tonight’s experience of being hit on,

I don’t know if I should say that guys nowadays are a bit too wishy- washy…

Or should I say,

or should I say he was too polite,

all timid, and then I went to buy milk,

and a guy came over and said,“ Hey, um, I’d like to get to know you.”

I was totally stunned and said,“ Oh, um…”

I said,“ Do you want to add me on WeChat?” He said,“ Not really.”

So I thought, if it’s not adding WeChat, then what is it? I said,“ Then do you, uh,

want my phone number?” And he said,“ Ah, not that either.” I said,“ Huh?”

and I just, I was totally confused.

I was thinking, then what do you want to get to know me for?

Then he said,“ Can I chat with you for a few minutes?”

I said I was kind of in a hurry,

I needed to go home and put my milk and stuff away first,

then I had to rush out to run.

He said he wanted to get to know me.

In my mind, if he wants to get to know me,

shouldn’t the first step be to get my phone number or my WeChat?

Then I brought it up with him again,

I said, do you want my phone number or my WeChat?

He said no again, that’s not what he meant,

so I said,“ Then what exactly do you mean?” He said,“ I want to,

uh, ask you out for a meal or something later, would that be okay?” I said, sure.

And I was thinking,

if you don’t even want my contact info, how are you going to ask me out?

I said, I said sure, then, then let’s just leave it to fate.

And I was thinking, then I guess if we’re meant to,

we’ll just run into each other on the street next time.

Asking me out to eat is fine.

And then… he said,“ Then can I chat with you for a bit?”

From beginning to end he never asked for any way to contact me.

In the end I was really just… and then he kept saying he wanted to get to know me.

Finally I felt I was being too wishy- washy, so I told him, I said,“ How about this,

you can add me on WeChat first.” I said, I really am in a hurry,

I need to go home and drop my stuff off first, then go out to run.

He really left me completely baffled. What was this guy trying to do,

why was he being so wishy- washy?
