We asked around and searched,

and we kept hearing, first they said they’d put them at the airport,

then they said they’d put them in Jurf al- Sakhar. Then they said they’d put them

in the prison of… Nasiriyah Prison.

And we went asking, everywhere we went we dialed a number,

and they said,“ Your names are not here,

your sons were taken by some groups.”

Not by the government.

Who came and took them, auntie? Who took them?

Didn’t I tell you the first time? The Federal Police,

the Federal Police the first time.

They took us out to the street.

And they were saying, these guys came… they came, they came,

the Asaib He said,“ Hajiya, we, like, it is not our concern, these are the Asaib.”

And one from the Federal Police told me,

he said, He told me,“ Hajiya, these ones who came are the Asaib.”

This is what they told us, and they said, like, we just ring their phone,

and they will come to you today. How are these families living?

Hajiya, how are you living, these families?

Families from the families are living here. This is my daughter with us,

she has three kids, one miscarried.

They have no salary, they have nothing.

And I have three daughters and two sons- in- law,

the sons- in- law went back to their families.

And my daughters and I stayed at home,

living off whatever people gave us in charity And how are we supposed to live?

We have no life at all
