And today we live in the shadow of pain and in the shadow of pride and dignity, grieving the loss of thousands of our people

women, children, the elderly, fighters, and the members of our people in general

And God Almighty honored us that among them are our sons, our grandchildren, and our brothers

and our relatives; all the sons of our people are like children, brothers, grandchildren, and kin

We belong to this large family — the family of the Palestinian people, and especially the people of Gaza

who today stand in for the ummah with their struggle, their patience, and their sacrifices

a rarity and a dignity unmatched throughout history

And in the Palestinian cause over a hundred years, today Gaza represents the ummah

in what it offers and gives of itself — the very best it can offer of itself

So we ask God Almighty to send down patience, consolation, and tranquility upon the members of our people

and to humble our enemy and to turn his plotting back upon his own neck; God willing, may He preserve us

We, our brothers, at these moments feel nothing but divine consolation

But, by God, brothers, however great is the pain of parting with my son, my companion, my office manager, and the young men around me

I understand this pain—it's a natural pain that comes with being human.

We're not made of iron or stone.

We cry for our martyrs, and we cry for our people, and we cry for our people.
