Impact of Ice Rink Size on Performance
I believe you paid great attention to the rink size this time. Could you tell us how much difference there actually is between the usual ice show size and the competition rink size, and how much it affects your performance?
In past ice shows, we always talked about how we could only use half our power. Also, ice shows are usually dark, and we had to control our skating within that rink size, so it was very different from our actual skating.
Since we requested an Olympic-sized rink this time, it's closer to our actual power—and I think this goes for all teams. We made sure the rink size provides an environment where everyone can truly skate their absolute best.
Ryo, what do you think? What are the highlights? After all, for an ice show...
I don't think there are many ice shows that use a full-sized rink, so you'll be able to see the same sense of speed as in a competition, and that's what I want everyone to see.
