Rodri Declines Real Madrid Offer
The news of the day.
What has happened?
The Larguero listener must be wondering now
for Rodri to have rejected
Real Madrid's offer.
Antón Meana, good evening.
Present. Benito, how are you? Good evening.
Let's get straight to the point because the information is direct
and it's not worth beating around the bush.
Cadena SER contacted
Pablo Barquero, Rodri's agent, this afternoon.
A calm phone conversation took place, explaining the negotiation.
He told us that Real Madrid made an offer
very good to Rodri after the World Cup.
The talks began a few days
after Spain won the World Cup in New Jersey.
The offer is impossible to refuse.
He says it is really good,
that both he and Rodri value the respect,
the class, the respect, the way Madrid has handled the negotiation,
that Madrid was serious about Rodri
and that they put everything on the table so that
Rodri would play for Madrid.
From their president to the general manager,
to the people who work at the club,
everyone has worked so that Rodri could play for Real Madrid.
The talks have been positive,
they have been negotiating these past two weeks,
but Rodri has made the decision to choose another offer,
to choose another option, and for that reason
today he communicated this to Real Madrid
so as not to keep them in suspense,
so as not to mislead anyone
and to express gratitude for the treatment Real Madrid has
wanted to show Rodri during these two weeks, as I say, of talks.
After a period in which, during the World Cup,
and during the season, there had been no contact,
they occur after the World Cup ends,
after Spain wins the trophy in New Jersey
and, as I say,
in the conversation we had with Rodri's agent,
he emphasizes Madrid's behavior,
Madrid's offer, and the fact that the Whites were serious about signing Rodri,
but that Rodri's personal decision is to accept another proposal
and for that reason, today the door is closed
to Rodri playing next season at Madrid,
but Rodri closes the door, grateful for the way Madrid treated him,
and because the offer they presented to him is
worthy of a World Cup Golden Ball winner.
