...may Allah have mercy on him, said to Hazrat, 'Since you are leaving...

'...this world, please give us some final advice and a will.'

So Hazrat Thanvi, may Allah have mercy on him, said a strange thing.

He said that for any matter, religious or worldly,

an important or significant issue,

do it with the advice of an elder.

Any important and significant matter,

do it with the advice of a pious elder, a man of God.

Then Hazrat began to speak about being self-opinionated.

That a person thinks, 'My opinion is everything.'

I don't need to ask anyone

There is no need to consult anyone.

Nowadays, this self-confidence and overconfidence...

...has become so great that a person often considers their opinion everything.

And the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said in a hadith,

that a time will come...

when everyone with an opinion will consider it to be everything.

That 'My opinion and my decision is the final decision.'

I don't need to ask anyone

I don't need anyone's advice.

So the venerable one said that for any important matter,

you must consult with an elder.

One who is self-opinionated

is ruined, even by the smallest degree.

Then he said that the Prophet, peace be upon him, received divine revelation,

yet he would still consult with his noble companions.

So he said, no matter who it is,

my friends, you are dear to God.

Allah has given us an opportunity.

Praise be to Allah, here in England,

how many scholars we have.

How many righteous people there are.

And we keep getting such opportunities.

There are some regions in the world

where there are neither scholars nor Hafiz.

Those poor souls, even in Ramadan, recite prayers as best they can.

And they long to find a scholar or a Hafiz.

Here, praise be to Allah, in every single town we have so many scholars.

Your Imam, the scholar Abu Bakr Sahib.

May Allah grant him special blessings.

So, these young scholars should benefit from them.

Benefit from them.

Sit with them.

They will surely guide you.

Similarly, sit in the company of scholars and pious people.

Sheikh Saadi, may Allah have mercy on him,

recited a verse saying that…

Companionship with the saints…

A short time in the company of the pious…

100 years…

…is better than sincere worship.

100 years of sincere worship.
