I want to say this today, in the presence of Your Excellencies the ambassadors,

because as someone who also takes part in diplomatic and geopolitical life,

in the international arena, I often hear it said that the world order

after 1945, and this is heard also at the meetings

of the United Nations, was a world order without wars,

it was the beginning of a world in which Western Europe

and the free corners of the world could develop.

But I so much want all of you today

to leave this ceremony with the conviction

that for that freedom in Western Europe,

for the fact that the world could develop without wars,

after 1945 nations like mine were paying the price.

Poland paid, Lithuania paid, Estonia paid, Romania paid,

the states of the former Yugoslavia paid, Eastern Germany paid,

all the republics of the Soviet Union paid.

We paid, because we had to live in lies, in enslavement.

That communist system kept murdering our workers

in the streets of Polish cities, our heroes, in the forests and in the torture chambers of the UB.

This world order built after 1945 had its price.

We paid it throughout all of Central and Eastern Europe.

That is why I would like this powerful voice of the silenced choirs

to speak to all of us once again today.

And for us, in recognition of the sacrifice of our heroes from Katyń,

to be aware that a world without wars, a common Europe,

a shared world of democratic values

cannot be understood without understanding the perspective of Central and Eastern Europe.

Those states that know the Soviet Union perfectly well

and that know today that the Russian Federation is a threat to the free world,

And Vladimir Putin is repeating the actions of the Soviet Union on our land.

This is obvious even on a day like today,

when we pay tribute to the victims of the Katyn genocide.

Eternal remembrance for the heroes murdered by the Soviets in Katyn

and contempt for their executioners.

Long live a free and independent Poland.

Long live Poland.

Płaciliśmy ją w całej Europie Środkowej i Wschodniej.
