Justice Department's New Voting Investigations
What's gonna come out of this, John?
What do you, what, what is your feeling on this one?
Yeah. So I- I've been on the same rollercoaster you
have, Glenn.
You know, you do lots of this great reporting.
You try to help people.
I, I've been in the White House, uh, declassifying documents, and you see this
extraordinary body of evidence, and then you see the people implicated
in that body of evidence walking free, thumbing their nose, going on television,
making money, writing false letters that mislead Americans in elections, and
you're like, "Is it worth even doing?" So the answer,
of course it is. It is.
Um, I have detected, uh, since the beginning of the White
House Task Force, uh,
a new
sentiment in the Justice Department in the prosecutorial world, and I'll just
use some examples. So, you know, our original releases at the task
force were the basis for the president's July
speech about, uh, China in- uh, interventions in our
election, including the theft of voter records.
Uh, the fact that there were a lot of non-citizens on voter rolls
and some appeared
to have voted, uh, and then the election vulnerabilities.
Now, I can tell you from the work I've done
that this has long been known
in the government, but it had never gotten to the president's
attention.
In fact, there was an intentional effort by the
intelligence world to keep
two presidents and probably a mem- and two Congresses in the dark on this.
The antiseptic of light kicked in a whole new sort of activity at
the Justice Department, and I suspect it wasn't the Justice
Department wasn't
looking at it. It was probably the career people like,
"There's nothing going on
there, nothing there. It's rare. Doesn't happen." All of a sudden,
you've seen
north of 100 non-citizens charged with voting.
You got a major criminal investigation in New Jersey about maybe systemic
non-citizens, uh, getting on, uh, the board.
You've seen some new actions taken to protect our voting machines.
The intelligence that we made public was six years old, but nobody ever
acted on it until Donald Trump gave his speech.
Um-
Jesus
... you heard the other day that, uh, John Brennan in a court filing said he was
told by prosecutors he's a target.
You only give someone a target notification if they're about to be
indicted.
I see an awful lot of activity in the grand jury talking to defense lawyers,
looking at, uh, activity and behavior by, uh, James
Comey and his inner circle. Uh, I didn't see that activity for much
of the last first 13 or 14 months of the Trump presidency,
except in the FBI. The FBI was always churning.
But it seems to me that the Justice Department
is in a different gear,
and that gear has been kicked in for different reasons.
HSI takes on Ilhan Omar separate of the DOJ.
They drive that case. The president's speech puts new evidence
out there.
I've seen more accountability activity before grand juries and in courts in the
last eight weeks than I saw, quite frankly, in the first six
years of the two Trump presidencies. So something is going on.
Mm.
But it only matters if you get results, and the result will be someone
being charged if there is criminality, um, and/or being
sued or being charged with fraud or having their job taken away.
I think we're in a window now where we're gonna finally know the answer.
I don't know which one it will be, but there's enough activity
that the Justice
Department is probably gonna give us some clarity.
And certainly on election integrity, you're seeing things you've never seen
before in the history of the Justice Department. Not Trump.
I mean, there have never been this many
non-citizens prosecuted in the history
of the Justice Department in one year.
You've never seen a case like they're bringing-
Wow
... in California, where the pay to play with the homeless
people has blossomed
into a very big scandal. And last night, while you and I were probably getting
ready for bed, Glenn, the Justice Department did something
really significant,
something they could have done a year or two ago, but they didn't.
They told California, "We see these many people
that we think are non-citizens on
the 26 voter rolls. You better get them off before Election
Day, because if you
allow them to cast a ballot, we're coming to charge you with knowingly
and
willfully letting a, a illegal alien vote or a non-citizen
foreigner vote."
And that's never been done before.
Wow.
That is a shockwave. That's activity we haven't seen in the
past.
