I’m at the point where it’s like I’m eating coffee.

Yeah. These days my mornings always start with coffee… wow.

Do you get picky about the beans and things like that?

Ah, the beans, yes. The beans too, I, uh, bought a coffee machine for my place, for home.

And I’ve found it kind of fun to choose the beans myself… wow.

…that’s what I’ve been thinking lately.

Lately, yeah, all of us members, during waiting time and such, it’s not online exactly, but there’s this game we can all play together, the same game.

Right, right, I’ve been really into that lately—well, not just lately, it’s been like that for the past one or two years.

I see, wow. Though honestly I’m not good enough at it to really call it a hobby, haha. Oh, oh, that was sharp, that was a sharp one you hit me with just now.

It's almost like this, yeah, it's fun, it's really fun, this is how I play. Yes, yes, yes, so, this time there is a section called "My Top 3" where you can decide on a theme and write down your top 3.

Yeah, third place is shoyu, second is iekei, first place tonkotsu. Yeah, nice, tonkotsu is the tastiest.

You are from Fukuoka, from Fukuoka. Right. I actually have never been to Fukuoka yet. Oh, really.

Yeah, that is right. I want to eat a lot of food. There are tons of recommended places. There are many, but the ramen shop I have been eating at since long ago is this place called “Taiho Ramen.”

There it is. I really want to recommend that place. Definitely. Oh, okay. I will make sure to include it in my schedule when I travel.

Yoshi, what is your personal top three foods? Okay, third place sukiyaki, second sushi, first ramen. Yeah.

Wow, that is like a kid’s favorite… (laughs) It kind of sounds like a “my top three for kids.”

When I come to Japan, I always make sure to eat these three things. It is the perfect season for sukiyaki too, isn’t it? Yeah, I really want to eat it.

That looks delicious. So far, since you came to Japan, have you eaten various Osaka-style foods and such?

Yesterday—oh, they had 551 pork buns in the catering yesterday, and I had a little. Is that right? It had been a while, you know there’s a huge difference between when they’re there and when they’re not.

Oh, when they’re there, everyone is like “Waaah!”, and when they’re not… “Really? That big a deal? Seriously?”

There are commercials, you know. Oh, really? Yeah, yeah, yeah. When there is one, people go “Waaah!” and when there isn’t, they just go “Hmmm…”

Oh, really? I didn’t know that. There are actually quite a few people who do that in their live show MCs in Osaka, artists.

The one we just delivered, “-JPVer.-,” contains the JP version of “Paradise” as well as the JP version of “Everything.”

They are the Japanese versions of the songs included on the third mini album “REBOOT,” which was released in September.

When it came out in September, there was still a lot of that summer heat left, so it really fit with beaches and…

Right, pools and yeah, yeah, those kinds of scenes came to mind, but when you listen at year’s end, it has a different kind of sparkle.

Hm, that might be true. It feels like it lets you welcome the new year with a really good feeling. Among the songs this time, do you have a favorite part, whether it is yours or another member’s?

Well, in “Paradise,” it is not so much a favorite as a part I was particular about, which is the rap section.

A lot of things, you know, like the order, got changed around. Originally I was first, but the company had that changed for us.

It ended up feeling better, like we really fine-tuned it. I mean, I am not the one who did it, though.

But when you watch the footage of the Korean version recording, you can see Haruto went in again on a different day to record.

Right, he went back to match the energy and vibe and so on. Since I was originally first, I had planned it so the tension would gradually build up.

I personally thought it through and kept it on the lower side at first, but then the order got changed. Ah, I see. And my voice is low, so…

Yeah, yeah. Like, I am just having fun doing it, but there are times when that feeling does not really come across in the actual audio.

Yeah, yeah, I recorded it like twice as joyfully as that, with this song you really have to hype yourself up more than you think or it just does not sound that way, right?

Right, so I pushed my energy up more than I expected. I see. How about you, Yoshi?

For me, yeah, my favorite part is, well, the rap part with the three rappers, it has really great balance.

Yeah, yeah, the three of us thought it through, and that rap part we wrote, I guess that is the best, it feels really harmonized.

I really enjoy listening every time too. And Yoshi, when it came to the Korean version, you made the lyrics more about happiness.

Yeah, that is right, like “as long as I am with you it is paradise, anywhere becomes paradise,” that kind of thing, it is not exactly a love confession, but…

I tried to write that in a slightly stylish way. Did that come to you pretty quickly?

Yeah, I imagined being with ToMoon at a fun place and wrote it like that. Ah, that is lovely. Asahi, how was it for you this time?

No, really, the rap is just… (laughs) but seriously, each of them, their real personalities just seep out.

It’s the kind of rap part that is fun to listen to, like you never get tired of it, I think. That is what I feel.

And yet you’re praising the rap part, even though it was already good… It is truly wonderful, it’s wonderful. Asahi, if we talk about your own part…

Ah, my part is, well… yeah. I like that one, you know, that part where Asahi is doing that cover.

Even though “a dramatic kiss” and “cool guy” are definitely great, it is kind of embarrassing to say that about yourself, right?

They are great, thank you, thank you. I always feel like TREASURE’s songs have such beautiful Japanese lyrics every time.

Well, I cannot say I understand every nuance of the Korean, but while keeping the beauty of the Japanese…

I feel like that satisfying way the sounds fit together, that pleasant feeling, is still there, but when you change it into Japanese for the day, do you also make various proposals and suggestions and so on?

Yeah, in my case I always write my rap in Korean, I am writing in Korean now, but the very first time I started rapping, it was in Japanese after all

In that sense, that kind of rhyme scheme is also the one that suits the lyrics I wrote in Korean the best.

I've been making various suggestions, and sometimes I've even been allowed to translate almost everything into Japanese. Ah, I see, it's really thanks to all of you that the original meaning is being conveyed so clearly in Japanese.

Thank you. By the way, do each of you have your own kind of “paradise” place?

A paradise place? A place, a time, a space… My parents’ house? Yeah, my parents’ place.

Your parents’ house is nice, right? In the end it really is home. Are you able to go back often?

Ah, by the time you can take a vacation, you’ll probably already be back home, right? Just seeing your family’s faces really puts you at ease.

Yeah, exactly. It’s already paradise, paradise. Home really is the best, it has to be home—seriously, truly.

Yeah, ideally we’d like you to go back regularly, but even just hearing stories like that really warms our hearts too.
