Yemen Conflict Update and Analysis

Here is a summary of events in Yemen according to this map over the past few hours.

As we know, over the past few weeks, the Houthis have been able to take control of

the coastal areas on the left of the image facing

the Red Sea. Their goal is to cut off Bab al-Mandab.

They seized Mokha, Dhubab, and Mayyun, but they could not secure their forces.

Why? Because they did not take control of the Kahbub Mountains that you can see.

The Kahbub Mountains are a strategic area controlling Bab al-Mandab,

meaning, if you want to control the strait, you must control

the Kahbub Mountains. The Houthis decided to move the war and fighting

to other areas. The main objective is the yellow line you see from

Taiz to Aden. The Houthis want to cut this line.

First, they moved their forces from the Al-Wazi'iyah and Shuqayrah front

toward Al-Shamayatayn, and within hours they reached

the outskirts of Al-Turbah. But the armed forces

fought fiercely, backed by the Yemeni Air Force,

and managed to push them back to their positions.

On the other side, from Dimnah to the Sami' Mountains.

The Houthis also tried to cut off this road through that front.

Fierce battles took place, and the armed forces managed to

push the Houthis back to their positions. Al Arabiya Today aired

footage from the areas the Houthis withdrew from on the Sam'a front

opposite Dimnah. Just look at the difficult

mountainous terrain they are fighting in now.

From these heights, fierce clashes are underway between the Yemeni armed forces and the

Houthi coup militias, as the forces are now sweeping the areas

they have taken control of. Among these areas is the village

that the Houthi militias had infiltrated.

and they are still ongoing between the two sides. These are

strategic positions. There are commanding heights here that control—if Sam'a falls,

it controls Al-Hujariyah, it controls Al-Ahad, it controls—what does that do?

In Al-Masrakh. There are natural

commanding features here. The Houthi coup militias are therefore trying

to advance

toward these positions, but they are facing fierce resistance from the Yemeni Armed Forces.

As you can see, these positions overlook Dimnat Khadir, one of the most important strongholds of the Houthi

coup militias in the southwestern part

of Taiz Governorate. The militias are therefore trying

to climb these heights.
