Critique of Iranian Opposition Dynamics

How did it happen that Iranian society actually acted so weakly, or specifically its

opposition, in adhering to principles? I can say this quite frankly.

For nearly five years now,

I have been in exile and dealing with the opposition.

We are utterly in the abyss of immorality.

We have reduced moral standards to zero. You treat human beings...

If you can, you use every tool you have to destroy each other, and if you could,

you would also use physical means for physical elimination, and sometimes you did.

I couldn't actually get close to any intellectual or political circle and

say with pride that I belong to this group because they are highly ethical.

And I want its standards to reach my homeland.

There wasn't a single Mr. Karami. How is that possible? I'm a very active person.

I've worked with many groups.

I wasn't just in feminist and women's groups.

Not a single one of your groups has standards that are so noble and

kept so clean that people can stand by them.

If they don't join your cult,

if their identity politics isn't so tied to you, can they stand just because of

your humane, noble, and valuable standards, and say,"

We will die for these standards so they can reach the soil of Iran"?

So, who are you? What are you?

How do you even want to confront that system?

But there are standards there, standards that morally

work for parts of that society in a way that they would die for them.

They say," We will stand

by these standards inside Iran," and we'll give our lives,

and won't let the country fall to foreigners." You on…

and then the question ultimately becomes: how do you, against a system that,

at least in part, has played in a way that people die for it, for the principles it

has preserved, how do you want to… on this… What kind of talk…

What kind of ridiculous claim is this,

that you want to replace them and overthrow them?

You haven't been able to for three years,

and that's why you realized you have to cling to foreign powers, and as for foreign

powers, well, we know the story, they won't do this for you.

That's an interesting point, and I agree with you.

In my own conversations, and in my own writings,

I have repeatedly pointed out that our opposition,

especially those who are overthrowers, who seek to be the alternative,

have suffered from many cognitive errors, and in practice,

they have brought society to a point where the gray class of society, who might…

the Islamic Republic and may not approve of its behavior, but in practice,

they prefer the Islamic Republic to the return of, say, the monarchy,

or to the return of movements that oppose the Islamic Republic.
