A resposta é apenas números.

Why does this fish stay perfectly still when it's being bitten? Is it not afraid of dying? This is the ocean sunfish, often nicknamed the trash of the sea. Fishermen usually throw it back because it's almost all bone and skin. A 2,000 pound sunfish only gives about 100 pounds of edible meat, and to make things worse,
it's full of parasites. But the sunfish has a bizarre way to deal with them. It floats belly up near the surface, letting the sun's UV rays kill the parasites. Most fish panic and swim away when attacked. The sunfish just drifts there, calm and dazed, like nothing's happening.
But it's not fearless. It literally has no tails so it can't swim fast. And its skin has no nerve endings, meaning it doesn't even feel pain. So why hasn't this fish gone extinct? The answer is pure numbers.
A single female sunfish can lay over 300 million eggs at once.
