Interview with Argentine Youth Football Coach
Congratulations, and what are your first thoughts
after winning another tournament with an Argentine youth national team?
Well, pretty much the same as last time,
confirming that they want to play for the national team and give everything to do so.
What does it mean to play for an Argentine youth national team?
It's training to play for the senior team, it's fulfilling
the first part of a great dream that all of us who play football have
in Argentina, which is to play in the national team jersey. We,
during the World Cup,
watched the matches with the
kids and told them that our dream was for them to be one of those who are
out there. Well, and with them, although they are a
bit older, it's more or less the same. What does a
player on the Argentine youth national team need to have?
Having a great desire to represent Argentine football and
giving your all for it.
A great desire to fulfill the dream of wearing the national team's jersey and then,
obviously, doing it in the best possible way.
They are not just kids who play well,
but they must also behave appropriately for a delegation
representing the sport, one of the sports
or the country's popular sport. There are a lot of things they must have.
And at the same time, I notice that no one takes off the Argentine gear.
Everyone wears it all the time, even when they are doing other things. Why is that?
Well, because the first thing you feel when you arrive at the training grounds is that it's a
place you don't want to leave.
And it's clothing that, I don't know,
there are families who pay for it in 24 installments, and they give it to you to train.
It's a huge privilege.
Well, a year is also starting with new experiences for you.
How are you looking forward to this year and what are your expectations?
They are to help and support the growth of the kids we train
and to see them playing one day in the senior national team.
Those are the expectations.
