Israeli Government's Constitutional Crisis

Citizens of Israel, the Israeli government announced today that for the first time in the country's history, it will not comply with a court order.

This is the most severe constitutional crisis in Israel's history, this is the collapse of the foundations of our democracy.

What does this mean? It means that starting today, July 5, 2026, there is no law in Israel, there is only the regime.

The government has prepared for this moment for a very long time, they talked about it again and again for many long months.

So that citizens would get used to the idea that it's possible, they started violating the law with clauses of an unfamiliar ruling

of an unfamiliar law so that it wouldn't look like a big drama, but this is a big drama,

because the government became a criminal today.

This is a big drama, especially since we understand exactly where they are going.

It is no coincidence that this decision comes just a few months before the elections.

If the government sees that it is going to lose the elections, or if it cheats in the elections,

or if it announces that it is postponing the elections because of a tense security situation, or for any other reason,

There will be no possibility to appeal this in court,

because as far as they are concerned, there is no more court.

I want to say from here to the citizens of Israel, this decision affects every one of you.

This is not a theoretical debate.

If you are arrested and the police do not want to bring you before a judge,

as of today, there is no way to force them.

If the state owes you money or has done you wrong, as of today...

you have no one to turn to, but it doesn't end here.

We are not helpless, we will not surrender to the attempt to erase Israeli democracy.

We have many ways to respond, and we will organize and respond. This does not end today, it is only beginning.

The government wants a state without law, it will not get it.

The law exists, the court exists, its orders are valid, and every person working in the public service must obey them.

I call from here to civil servants, officials, officers, police officers: you do not work for the government, you work for the State of Israel.

Your oath is to the law.

When a government directive conflicts with a court order...

The injunction is what determines.

Our next government will repeal every law passed from now on

because these are laws passed by an illegitimate government.

We will end this dangerous chaos

and restore the rule of law on the first day of our government.

The court has no army, it has no police.

Its authority stems from us, the citizens.

From the fact that we are a democratic country and everyone is equal before the law.

Even the powerful, even the government, even the Prime Minister.
