Conditions of Baiga Tribal Children

If you want to see poverty in our country,

then look at these children. These are Baiga tribal children.

For about the past four months, Baiga tribal

and Gond tribal children have been dying here from measles and malaria.

These children must be returning from school now.

They aren't carrying schoolbags in their hands.

That girl is carrying a child in this scorching heat,

and there is another small child with her.

You won't see slippers on their feet because

they simply don't have enough money to afford slippers.

They don't get food because their parents don't have enough money

to provide two or three meals a day. They don't even get nutritious food

through government schemes because governments haven't cared.

But, friend, anyone who has children,

should look at their own children once and pay attention to these children, then they

will understand what the real conditions in our country are.

They are completely cut off from the outside world.

They have no idea what's going on outside here, in the world.

The world is reaching the moon. For them, getting from here to

Balaghat is like reaching the moon. And

the governments that should come to their doorsteps, you know how they say

that a mother has three children, if one child is disabled, she takes greater care

of that child.

The governments don't care about these children at all.

Even though caring for them is the most important thing.

This is the reality for Baiga Adivasis. We
