Yemen Government's Peace Efforts and Challenges

The Yemeni government has acted

responsibly and positively toward all

regional and international initiatives,

and has made major concessions

to establish peace and end the suffering of

our Yemeni people,

while the terrorist Houthi militias met those efforts

with intransigence,

and turned periods of humanitarian truces

into an opportunity to bolster their

military arsenal at the expense of citizens' livelihoods.

Twelve years may, in political terms, be

a period of time

and a protracted crisis,

but in the life of a Yemeni child, it is

their entire childhood.

An entire generation

was born into war,

grew up amid hunger, fear, and weapons,

and learned the names of mines before

learning the ABCs of life.
