promised to pay the US Securities and Exchange $18,000,000, approximately 134,000,000 rupees,

So, there is a Central Government company,

Solar Energy Corporation of India, SECI.

It gave Adani Green the world's largest solar project to build.

The business model in it was very simple: SECI would buy electricity from Adani,

and sell it to the State Electricity Department, and then the State Electricity Department would sell it further to us, the consumers.

But SECI's condition was that they would pay Adani only when the State Electricity Department paid them.

But even before the question of payment arose, the State Electricity Department refused to buy the electricity

because they found it to be very expensive.

Now, a new twist comes into this case.

The US Department of Justice files a fraud case against Gautam Adani and his nephew,

alleging that they offered a bribe of 2,029 crore rupees

to the State Electricity Department to buy their expensive electricity.

And they were charged under the FCPA, meaning the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, the Securities Act of 1933, and the Securities Exchange Act of 1934,

under which the case has been filed.

Now, the biggest question arises: how did the US get involved in India's internal matter?
