Understanding Your Thoughts and Mind

You've already heard it all. You are not your thoughts, don't believe your thoughts, don't listen to your thoughts, change your thoughts, but I'm going to reframe this for you so that you really learn how to disidentify from your mind.
Your mind, your beautiful, incredible, imaginative, creative mind is nothing more than a parent that learned how to talk. The negative things it says about you, every single point of criticism, is as important and meaningful as a parent memorizing your phone number. It is a recording device that has been absorbing,
downloading every single piece of information it has ever received from outside of you and from inside of you. And so when you hear things like, I'm not capable, I'm not worthy of this, that's like a parent learning how to say I love you. Does it actually mean the parent loves you?
Obviously not. It just has a vocal system that allows for it to repeat those sounds. Your mind also has a system that allows it to repeat things that it's heard before. I mean, have you ever even stopped to consider why it sounds like you? It's like your accent. It's your voice.
It's not someone booming over a radio being like, you are ugly, or like in a French accent or something like that. It sounds like you. And that's why a lot of times you think it is you, right? Because it imitates you just like a parent would. But imagine if you took every single thing a parent said seriously,
then a goddamn parent would be running your life. And that's what's happening. You've been hijacked. You've been possessed by this mind that has memorized you and your voice and all of the thoughts that it's been downloading all this time. It's posing as you. You're identified with every single thought. And every time you hear a negative thought about yourself, you're like, yep, that's true.
You got to know that that's your mind. You got to know that that's the parent and be like, shut the fuck up. Like, I know that I taught you how to say that, but I don't want you to say that anymore. Now, a parent's not going to understand when you say that, right? If you tell the parent to stop saying the phone number or I love you, it's not going to know to do that.
It does not understand English. It understands behavior and attention. And so what you have to do is to stop paying attention to that. Stop feeding it thoughts like that. If you stop saying your phone number to the parent and start saying other things, it'll learn how to say different things. You can teach your parent curse words.
You can teach your parent your address. You can teach your parent greetings, just like you can teach your mind positive affirmations and encouraging thoughts about yourself. And so once again, you are not your thoughts. You are separate from them.
You can observe them much like you can observe this parent. So this mind, you want to turn it into your tool and your servant rather than being its servant and letting it be the master. This is a beautiful tool within your own brain that you can use to create literally anything. But right now it's creating your own suffering. So the first step in taking your power back is in realizing that the voice you hear in your head,
it's not you. It's programming.
