At the start of 2022, NATO was ready to give up the Baltic states and, at Russia’s demand, turn them into a buffer zone by withdrawing its own weapons.

This is exactly what follows from the new memoirs of former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

And for those who forgot, let me remind you that before the war Russia issued an ultimatum to NATO, allegedly demanding that it return to the borders of 1997,

which in practice meant excluding as many as 14 countries from the Alliance.

And despite NATO publicly refusing such brazen demands from Russia, in reality the NATO Secretary General was secretly conducting negotiations

and was ready to roll back the security architecture to the borders of 1997 and create an entire buffer zone out of the Baltic states.

I emphasize, 30 NATO countries with 40% of the world’s GDP were so frightened of a single Russia with 1.5% of the world’s GDP

that they were practically ready to capitulate at the very first threat from the Kremlin.

And now just imagine what would have happened if Putin had captured Ukraine, say, in a week

and had reannounced his ultimatum about the borders of 1997 from already occupied Lviv.

NATO would already be expelling entire countries from the Alliance just so they would not have to fight Russia.

What is there to say if, at the beginning of 2022, our Western partners were already saying goodbye to Ukraine?

Kuleba said that the Biden administration, a day before the invasion, suggested that he not return to Ukraine

but stay in Washington with his family.

Zelenskyy was offered to record a video will, because they thought he would die when Kyiv ended up under occupation.

Ambassador Melnyk even said that when, on February 24, he came to the German minister to ask for help in resisting Russia,

And now all of Stoltenberg’s memoirs are coming out, which prove that NATO was ready to make concessions to the Kremlin and came to terms with the occupation of Ukraine.

In fact, all these episodes can be combined into one big Munich conspiracy 2.0.

But as the historian Timothy Snyder rightly said, Ukraine is Czechoslovakia that did not capitulate to Hitler and began to resist.

If before World War Two Western Europe had made concessions to Hitler and given up Czechoslovakia under the slogan “so that there will be no war”

and Czechoslovakia had accepted it and capitulated, then in our case it was precisely the factor of Ukraine that became decisive.

We would have begun to resist and, most likely, would even have prevented a Third World War.

Just imagine, if Czechoslovakia had resisted Hitler for four years, perhaps there would have been no Second World War at all.

And let me remind you, the Americans predicted the fall of Kyiv in four days, and the Russians wanted to buy our capital for three.

Everyone has already taken the factor of Ukraine out of the equation, yet it was precisely this that proved decisive.

And therefore Ukraine, in essence, broke the scenario in which great powers once again agree on the fate of the smaller, weaker ones.

History is determined not by the fear of the strong, but by the resistance of those who refuse to capitulate.
