Syria's Nuclear Energy Developments

Based on technical assessments that these materials do not pose any danger,

and that they will remain in Syrian national custody, subject to the Agency's

safeguards system,

it also affirms its legal and sovereign right to civil and peaceful uses

of nuclear energy, in line with its national interests

and international obligations. We will continue providing the conditions

necessary to safely process and store these materials

under full Syrian sovereignty and in full cooperation with

the International Agency.

Your Excellency Dr. Grossi, what you are witnessing today

represents the culmination of a renewed path of cooperation

launched since the liberation of Syria, starting with the first contact

with the Director General in early 2025, moving through

field visits, environmental sampling, and the memorandum

of understanding in health and agriculture, as well as the funding mechanism

provided by the Agency, leading up to the memorandum

of understanding and the roadmap signed late

last July,

and the Deir ez-Zor exploration agreement, which the Syrian Atomic Energy

Commission is currently implementing.
