Religious Teachings on Life and Death
Servants of Allah,
fear Allah as He deserves to be feared.
Fear Allah,
and let every soul consider what it has sent ahead for tomorrow.
For death is near,
and it is like the near tomorrow. Fear Allah as He deserves
to be feared, and do not die except while you are
Muslims.
O people, O you who believe, fear
Allah, and let every soul consider what it has sent ahead
for tomorrow. Fear Allah, indeed Allah
is All-Aware of what you do. And do not be
like those who forgot Allah, so He made them forget themselves.
Those are the defiantly disobedient. O you who
believe, do not let your wealth or your children distract you
from the remembrance of Allah. Whoever does that, they are
the losers. And spend from what We have provided you
before death comes to one of you and he says, “My Lord,
if only You would delay me for a short time,
I would give charity and be among the righteous.”
But Allah will never delay a soul when its time has come,
and Allah is All-Aware of what you do.
From Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both,
from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said, “Be
in this world as though you were a stranger or a traveler.”
Ibn Umar would say, “When morning comes, do not
wait for evening, and when evening comes, do not wait for
morning. O son of Adam, love whatever you
wish, for you will part with it,”
Do as you please, for you will face it, and be
as you please, for as you treat others, so you'll be treated.
