Analysis of Ukraine-Russia Conflict

I won't hide that I've been receiving many signals,

I informed you about them by phone from Europe,

from the United States of America, signals

concerning the current situation, the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

You know, in my view,

I have said from the very beginning that these are interstate conflicts, interstate ones.

This is not about any civil war.

We have always respected the Ukrainian people,

their culture, and their language.

And we believe

that the nature of this conflict is not entirely clear to many, including us.

For instance, if there was a conflict, including a frozen conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia,

the essence of that conflict, the origin of that conflict, was completely clear to us.

They went deep into history, but here it is very difficult to understand.

And I understand that, I know,

that you showed maximum diplomatic flexibility during the Anchorage meeting in Alaska.

And this is just my humble opinion, since I am being asked.

Maybe this conflict should already be frozen and we should return to the Istanbul formula 2.0, since significant results were achieved there.

And then, of course, under the guarantee of the great powers, including Russia,

and move further towards the long-awaited peace.

Kazakhstan is not an outsider country, but at the same time,

despite all the proposals and appeals, I categorically refuse to be a mediator, because I know that Russia is a great country, the Russian people are a great people,

and, as they say, without mediators they will handle all the issues that

are on the agenda. But just to express my humble opinion,

I decided to do it specifically today because people know

that I was going to, planned to be in Omsk,

know about our meeting and asked to convey how to get out of this situation.

No one knows how to get out of the situation because of the positions of the parties.

But, on the other hand, there is such a moment and opportunity

to put this whole matter on freeze. This is a method tested in international practice.

It is such a pity, of course, young people are dying, they are trying to pit the Orthodox peoples of Russia and Ukraine.

And all this must be stopped, because what is happening, in my firm belief, is to the benefit and joy of the opponents of Russia

and the Ukrainian state.

So what I wanted to say, as far as Kazakhstan's position towards Russia is concerned,

rest assured, we have always considered and still consider Russia to be a great power, as I have already said.

I speak about this at all international forums,

and we remain committed to strategic cooperation with Russia, to allied relations, no matter

how difficult it may be. And this current forum is a testament to that.
