Mossad Leadership Changes After Iran Operation Failure

With the outbreak of the recent war against Iran, the 40- Day War,

one of the goals set in Israel was toppling the Ayatollah regime.

This plan, as we know, led by the Mossad, collapsed completely.

Yaron Avraham, our political correspondent,

you have a first report on those who paid the price for this. Exactly, Danny.

Much has been said about the failure of the Mossad's operational plan in Iran,

the same plan that was supposed to overthrow the Ayatollah regime along

with the minorities, and ultimately install someone there in their place.

In the worst- case scenario, this plan failed miserably.

In the best- case scenario,

it didn't really materialize as planned.

But as far as the head of the Mossad, Roman Gofman, is concerned,

there are those responsible and those to blame.

Tonight we are revealing that Gofman has decided to dismiss two highly senior

officials from the organization's ranks.

One is the head of the Mossad's Intelligence Directorate,

she only took office this past December, and the second,

mind you, is the head of the Iran division in the Mossad. Security sources

tell us there was no chemistry between the two of them and Gofman from the start,

that their terms will end with an agreement that they can remain in the

organization in some capacity, and that this is all part of some organization,

a reorganization of the Mossad.

But the tone and the decision are clear.

Danny, there is no coincidence here.

These are the two officials directly involved who conceived, labored,

and brought the plan to overthrow the regime in Iran into a written document and a

full operation.

They are the ones who conceived it,

and then it was presented to President Trump.

These two, whose contribution to national security is truly invaluable,

are going home. And if you will, Gofman believes they are

the ones who should pay the price for the failure of the plan presented to Trump,

which was never actually implemented on the ground.
