So, what is your name now?
My name is Arvind Kumar, ma’am.
So you are in the traffic police.
There is a liquor shop over there.
Today is a dry day. You must have heard about dry day,
that on this day there is a complete ban on alcohol.
But it is being sold openly there,
so did you not get any information?
No, what do we have to do with the information?
What do we care about what is happening over there?
So if tomorrow a murder takes place right in front of you,
will you still give the same answer, that it is not your department?
So this is how you will fix accountability?
I am telling you about accountability, right?
We are responsible for whatever work happens on the road.
If a murder happens inside a house, we are not responsible for that.
So if a murder happens inside a house, that does not fix your responsibility…
then did you not inform the police station? There is the station police,
there is the local police, they will go inside the house and check a bit.
What do we know about what is happening in those houses?
What do we know about what is happening inside?
Our… It is being sold openly, can you not see, the lights are on.
From right here I can clearly see that the lights are on.
The light is even on in the shop.
Yes, it is a liquor shop and…
The light of the other shop is on, that one.
So if the light is on, then today when the liquor shops are closed,
what does it mean that the light is on? Did you even once try to find out…
The light of the other shop is on. The light of the other shop is on, the tea one.
Its lights were also on, so you did not realize that you have been
present here since morning, you must have been on duty, so you…
We have been here since 6: 30 a.m.
Even then, not even once did you go and conduct an inspection or whatever was
necessary, inform the concerned department… Our work is related to traffic,
our job does not mean we go check if that light is on, that is not our job.
By what authority will we enter that house to
check, tell me?
So did you inform the responsible department that this is how things are going on?
The police headquarters is only a few meters away.
How are we supposed to know what is happening there?
It is not even ten meters away, sir.
It does not matter how many meters,
we know our intersection and what is happening at our intersection.
What is happening there, we have nothing to do with that.
Okay, so if tomorrow someone commits a murder there,
you will say that is not even your department, right?
That is exactly what I am saying,
our work is related to the road,
not to if a murder happens in some house,
our work is not related to that.
So in this way you fix your accountability…
Tomorrow he might ask us,“ Brother, why did you go in? It is not your job.”
Our job is traffic, we are
in the traffic police. So which department would you have informed? You should have
informed the administration once, to the excise department, in the list… Only when
we know about it.
Oh, you do not know what is happening just ten meters away?
We do not know anything there.
What will we do about those ten meters and five meters in that, madam?
Do you work with your eyes closed?
I just saw this gentleman was doing his duty by being on the phone,
using his phone like this. And you, your traffic responsibility?
The phone is also necessary,
using the phone,
we issue tickets using the phone.
Sitting down?
Yeah, sit… What happened then, man?
He came at 6: 30 a.m.,
can you stand that long?
He has been here since 6: 30 a.m.
You also cannot keep standing, right? The guy, okay, he sat down, we are standing,
one man is sitting, three men are standing. What does that even mean?
So this is how you fix
accountability?
There is no accountability fixed,
the question should be logical.
If a man gets tired,
what should he do?
It is a dry day today, sir,
what logical question can there be from that?
It is not related to us.
If a man gets tired,
he will sit down, of course.
There is the police at the police station, right, you go to the station.
Is it not your responsibility?
It does not fall under our responsibility, it is not ours, we cannot stop alcohol.
Our job is traffic. Why would we stop it, alcohol is being sold,
whether it is a dry day or whatever, what do we have to do with that?
Have you even forgotten how to be human?
You are human too, right?
Then you go and get it stopped.
I have come,
I am just doing my job.
What kind of cross- questioning are you doing?
You are saying this to a traffic police officer, that“ brother,
you get the liquor stopped.” What kind of logic is that? Once you knew…
I am not telling you to stop it,
I told you this, that you did not think it necessary to inform us?
Only if we know about it, right.
So you do not have the information? We do not have the information.
We go to our stall, from the stall we come here and work our job,
what do we care about what is happening there?
You can use the phone,
but you cannot see this.
All right, thank you.
