Interview with Dr. Karen Asayag

I'm Dr. Keren Asayag, and I'm excited to join Likud.

Tell us a little about yourself.

I was born and raised in Tirat Carmel, in a very special home.

We're eight siblings, five of them are, uh, adopted.

How did your parents come to that decision?

When people ask my parents how they came to it, well, uh,

their answer is simple. To them, that's Zionism

in its truest form.

And how do you define yourself?

A Zionist Jew who loves the people of Israel.

What's the most Israeli thing, in your opinion?

Helping everyone as if they were family, even if they didn't ask for it

and don't need it.

What's the first thing you'd change in academia?

Give significant affirmative action to IDF combat soldiers.

And what else?

I would work to eradicate exclusion and silencing on political grounds

in academia, and not just academia, in culture, in high-tech, everywhere

else, so everyone can express their opinion without fear.

And in one sentence.

May there be real democracy here.

What's your dream?

My dream is for the culture of boycotts to end, that we

adults set a real example for our children.

Let us accept others with all their views, with what they feel.

And let them not be afraid to be themselves. So that everyone can be who

they truly are, authentically, without fear.
