Russian Military Actions in Bucha
On March 4, 2022, Russian paratroopers advance through Bucha.
Surveillance cameras capture a 70-year-old man calmly walking
named Volodymyr Rubailo.
But seconds later, on another camera, we see that the man has just been
shot. He is wounded, and blood is flowing from him.
Despite the fact that the man can barely stay on his feet,
the Russian soldiers still
fire a final shot to his head.
Volodymyr Rubailo falls dead to the ground.
For ethical reasons, we will not show this moment.
Soon, one of the Russian commanders approaches the man who was shot,
turns him over by the collar of his jacket, searches him and steals
something from his pocket.
On the surveillance cameras, we can see that his subordinates simultaneously begin
to loot
a store nearby. Radio Liberty identified this
Russian
commander. He is a sergeant in the 234th
regiment from Pskov, Vladimir
Barzunov. Later, Barzunov himself approaches the store
and
helps with the looting.
Suddenly spotting the loot, another group of Russian soldiers
stops,
turns around and heads for the supermarket.
They smash the glass in the door, but cannot break through the doorframe.
Then, in full combat gear, Russian soldiers try one by one
to squeeze through the narrow opening to get inside the supermarket.
Soon, more and more Russian soldiers arrive to loot the store.
At first, they carry out the loot in baskets.
Then, when there are no longer enough, they put everything into bags.
Someone hangs packages from head to toe, making them too heavy
to carry.
It is noticeable that one of the soldiers also took
several bottles of
alcohol.
To take more, the others load the loot directly into
grocery carts,
struggle to pull them through the doors and wheel them away.
And all this is happening against the backdrop of murdered Bucha resident Volodymyr Rubailo.
Russian soldiers wheel the loot away in carts, right past civilian cars shot up literally
just a few hours earlier.
Natalia Sokolovska was killed in this car, and Mykhailo Hrabovliak in this vehicle,
which is still burning.
As Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty established in its investigation, the 234th
Air Assault Regiment from the Russian city of Pskov may have been involved in these killings
of civilians on Yablunska Street in Bucha.
It is the Pskov paratroopers who continue entertaining themselves near the supermarket.
They drink,
they eat,
are talking
and trying to load as much loot as possible into their combat vehicles.
For example, into this armored vehicle, which belonged to Russian military
medics,
they put so many baskets inside that they even had to remove the stretchers for
the wounded. Surveillance cameras record all this
over
several hours.
But suddenly, one of the Russian soldiers notices one of the cameras.
He takes a sword out of his BMD.
He quietly approaches the camera and starts attacking it with the tip of the sword.
He can't destroy the camera right away, but after
a few
strikes, the signal cuts out.
