Analysis of a Young Football Star
How do you handle on a daily basis the weight of Lamine Yamal in this national team?
I don't know if you could tell us a little, because he is obviously the
star, but it's true that he is also surrounded by great stars.
Well, I have to tell you another expression that we also use.
We said that we had faced the Portugal of
Cristiano, the France of Mbappé,
we were going to play against Messi's Argentina, but they were
facing the national team or the team of 26.
That, recalling that famous phase, that thing about the 300 Spartans.
No, well, we are the 26 Spaniards,
they were the 26 and they are the 26 Spaniards, which is what gives us great strength.
Lamine is a
footballer who has had an extraordinary experience and performance in
my opinion is fantastic because he has matured so much,
he has worked hard for the team, he has known how to put the general good
before his own personal good,
he has known how to suffer when controlling the matches, and that is going to make him,
he is already a great footballer,
very young, who is still in the process
of development, but it will make him a better footballer in the future.
It was clear that in this World Cup he went from strength to strength, it's true he started like that and
then he did indeed finish at a very high level.
Yes, well, it was a process that we had anticipated,
he was also coming from some playing time,
we knew he needed those matches to get into a rhythm,
confidence, security, and that's how it went, but above all it's true,
beyond how attractive his football is,
which obviously anyone can appreciate,
the work he did was wonderful for the team, something that, I insist, made him mature
football-wise, and it's going to be very good for him in the future.
