Forget about becoming the third largest, India won't be able to become a five trillion dollar economy by 2029.

So watch this video carefully till the end, and I will explain to you why that is.

So in 2019, Prime Minister Modi announced

that if he wins the election again,

then by 2024, India will become a five trillion dollar economy.

Now, hearing this, many economists were shocked

because this meant

that we would have to double our economy in five years.

Which means we would have to grow at 13% every year.

Look, doing this was difficult

because India's peak time,

which was between 2001 and 2014,

when India's Prime Ministers were Atal Bihari Vajpayee

and Manmohan Singh,

India achieved its highest GDP growth rate of 11%.

But after Prime Minister Modi came,

between 2014 and 2019,

the Indian economy has grown by only 7.5%.

Not just that,

In 2019, when Prime Minister Modi won the election again,

the growth of the Indian economy slowed down even further.

If we look at the IMF's latest Economic Outlook database,

the Indian economy was worth 2.65 trillion dollars in 2018-19,

which increased to 3.75 trillion dollars in 2024-25.

Meaning, in six years, we only grew by 1.11 trillion dollars,

which means that by 2024, India was supposed to become a five-trillion-dollar economy,

but we remained only a 3.76-trillion-dollar economy.

As always, Prime Minister Modi changed his goalpost this time too.

Now, he doesn't even talk about a five-trillion-dollar economy.

Now he says that by 2047, India will become a developed nation.

I want to give you a reality check here.

In the last seven years, the Indian economy has grown by only 5.7%,

and if we want to become a five-trillion-dollar economy by 2028-29,

So we will have to grow at 8.5% every year,

which seems impossible to me,

especially in a situation when Prime Minister Modi

has to tell people to cut down on consumption.

For the last 22 months, Net FDI in India has been zero,

and FPIs are also leaving the Indian market,

and Indian companies are not investing money in India at all.
