Discussion on Knowledge and Piety
Ahmad came to us. It was said, "Whom should we ask?"
He said, "Ask Abd al-Wahhab al-Warraq."
They were surprised to ask this man, as he was not among his senior companions or his jurists.
Ahmad said,
"He is a man of piety,
and someone like him, a man of scrupulous piety, is more likely to be guided aright."
In the words of God Almighty, "Fear God, and God will teach you," there are two meanings.
The first meaning
is that piety is a cause of success in knowledge. Part of piety
is reverent fear. Knowledge is reverent fear.
A person should beware of speaking about God's knowledge or God's religion.
