Union Support and Social Struggles

I had this great story I used to tell when I was at the

union, which went like

this:

Yeah, I used to tell this one: this poor guy, he, he was

unemployed. Then he goes to the union.

When he gets to the union, he,

uh, tells the union about his situation, and the union leader says

this: "No, my son, you need to, you know, uh,

uh, get organized, you need to fight, because

we need to, you know, fight the bosses, go on

strike," all that stuff. Then the guy goes home and says, "Damn,

I went to the

union to ask for help, and the union said

that, that I have to get organized,

that I have to fight," you know? Then he leaves the union and goes

to the Catholic church, gets there, finds a conservative priest, and the

priest says, "Oh, my

son, you have to suffer on Earth, because the

the kingdom of heaven will belong to the poor, that it's easier

for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to do I don't know what."

You know? It doesn't give the guy any hope
