Prophet Muhammad was born in Mecca into the Quraysh tribe, who were predominantly polytheists. He married Khadija, the wealthiest person in Mecca, who owned a successful transportation and trading business. Throughout their twenty-five years of marriage, Khadija was the primary
provider for their household. Prophet Muhammad preached Islam for thirteen years in Mecca, gaining only a hundred followers. His insults of the Quraysh's beliefs led to growing hostility towards him. After Khadija's death, Muhammad found himself without a stable
income, as he had not managed her business and didn't learn to read and write properly. He instructed his followers to migrate with him to Medina, hoping for a better future.
However, after their move, the Muslim community struggled financially. Some of his followers expressed their frustration over their worsening situation, asking, "Prophet, where is your promise to make us prosperous?"
Lacking a sustainable means of income, Prophet Muhammad began raiding and robbing against the Quraysh merchants who traveled between Mecca and Syria for trade. After six unsuccessful attempts, his first major victory came during the raid of a small caravan at Nakhla.
Amir, Amir, are you okay, man? Emboldened by this success, he led the Muslims in a larger raid at Badr, targeting a significant Quraysh caravan. Promising war booty, he quickly recruited over two hundred new followers.
At the Badr robbery, three hundred hungry Muslim robbers defeated a thousand Quraysh merchants. While this victory is often celebrated by Muslims today, a key factor was the Quraysh's reluctance to kill their own relatives, sons, cousins, and uncles who had
converted to Islam and were now fighting against them. Prophet Muhammad incited family members turning against one another for his own benefit. Sons killing fathers, Uncle A killing Uncle B, nephews killing uncles. This is what happened in Badr robbery.
Prophet Muhammad openly declared that his livelihood would come from these raids. In Sahih Bukhari, Book of Jihad, Hadith eighty-eight, it is narrated by Ibn Umar that the Prophet said, "My livelihood is under the shade of my spear, and he who
disobeys my orders will be humiliated by paying jizya." The footnote explains that "under the shade of my spear" refers to income derived from war booty. Robbing non-believers became a major source of income for the Prophet Muhammad. During his ten years in Medina, he instigated more than
eighty raids against non-Muslims in Arabia. He did not stop until he died. Prophet Muhammad is a warlord who committed numerous crimes, and he justified them all in the name of his God, Allah.
