Discussion on Sufi Practices and Beliefs

Do you know why they kiss each other on the mouth?

This is a belief among the Sufis,

and this has been around for a long time.

And so no one says this one is ignorant or that one is even more ignorant,

it is found even among some of their sheikhs and the masters

of their orders.

It is their belief

that this is

because these lips

remember Allah and send blessings upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him,

so they kiss them.

In fact, some of them lied, claiming that one of their Imams

said, "I saw the Prophet, peace be upon him, in a dream,

and he kissed me on the mouth"—

the Prophet kissed him on his mouth—

so he felt embarrassed by the action of the Prophet, peace be upon him.

I seek refuge in Allah from misguidance. He felt embarrassed,

while the Prophet did not, peace and blessings be upon him, his family, and companions.

This is an insult to the noble status of the Prophet, peace be upon him,

the most perfect, purest, noblest, and most pious

of people—may my father, mother, and soul be ransomed for him, peace and blessings be upon him, his family,

and his companions.

Even so,

when he asked,

he said, "Because he would send blessings upon the Prophet 1,000 times in the morning

and 1,000 times in the evening,"

so the Prophet kissed him on the mouth, peace be upon him.

Then after that, he sat with people

they backbite, so he didn't see the Prophet in a dream nor did he kiss him on

the mouth after that.

They hold the belief that these are lips

that prayed upon the Prophet and remembered God, Blessed and Exalted, so

they kiss them.

In fact, let me tell you: years ago, during the Prophet's birthday, peace be upon him,

his family, and companions,

and this happened here in Minya in Upper Egypt,

one of them would open his mouth, and the other would come

and spit into it. Yes, spit into it, and then

he says, "From one who praises God

to another who praises God, it is pure, so both are in Paradise.

From one who praises God to another, or into one who praises God, it is

pure"—meaning the saliva—"so both are in Paradise." And they were

kissing each other on the lips in the streets.

So what you see is not

an isolated or rare incident, meaning a one-time act,

but rather widespread among them. This is just like

the acts of perverts and deviants, an incitement to

vice, a straying from virtue, and an encouragement of everything

that is evil. We ask God for pardon and well-being.

Then look at the end, people are separating them from each other:

"They're getting turned on, they got aroused by each other, huh?" Then he gropes

sensitive areas and touches them. I mean…

What did he leave? I mean—I swear, what—I want to

speak, but I don't know what to say. Just the sight alone

is utterly revolting.

This is their belief: because lips prayed upon

the Prophet, they must be kissed,

and to Allah we belong and to Him we return. This is what

happens in Sufi gatherings, in Sufi

orders, in Mawlids, and at shrines,

and to Allah we belong and to Him we return.
