Discussion on Identity and Military Role

Some view the fact that you are an Arab and a Muslim,

and have now become a spokesperson for the Israeli army,

as you being part of a whitewashing framework for the Israeli army.

What do you think? Great.

First, I want to say this with humility.

The proverb" O mountain, no wind can shake you" applies to me.

Despite all the criticism, whether harsh or constructive,

and whether its goal is dialogue or an attempt to belittle me and

undermine my position, this will not change my conviction in

myself nor in what I represent.

I am very proud of being an Arab Muslim woman who belongs to my

community and culture, and at the same time, I am proud to perform

my duty as a spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces. I cherish this very much.

Okay, but don't you feel pain,

anger, that there are children being killed?

I don't want to frame the issue in a religious context, I mean, but there are,

I mean, the teachings of Islam are well- known that, I mean,

killing children and cutting off food, nourishment,

and medicine from innocent people.

I'm not talking about your conflict with Hamas,

I'm talking about innocent people.

As an Arab and a Muslim,

don't you feel an inner anger at these actions?

First, in every war, there are casualties.

And also, this is what happened in Israel, this is what happened in Gaza,

this is what happened in Syria,

this is what happened in Iraq, this is what happened in Yemen,

this is what happened in Iran, and in every region where there are wars.

But I believe, trust, and assert that the IDF is one of the noblest and most

honorable armies, and that is why I am here.
