Discussion on Water Control and Politics

The mystique is ours. It is said in the Song of Songs, “Your nose is like the tower of Lebanon, overlooking

Damascus.” King David built a tower there, on the crown

of Mount Hermon, overlooking Damascus, and in my imagination, I see

the Amana and Pharpar streams flowing down and watering Damascus,

streams whose source is the snowmelt of Mount Hermon.

We need to control this water. I’m not saying we should conquer Damascus.

Although I know—there’s a story about Rome— we need to be in a position

where, on the ground, we threaten

Damascus. So that Mr. al-Sharaa moves his capital out of sheer

fear to Aleppo. I’m not saying we cut off their water or electricity,
