Nobody ask us to, to, are you ready for a war?
Are you ready for a change?
How do ordinary Iranians feel about what's happening in their
country? We spoke by phone with a resident of Tehran, Iran's
capital, where protecting his identity because speaking
frankly about the Iranian regime is dangerous.
I guess for a lot of Iranians, they must feel very powerless.
Yes, they are. I mean, the majority of the people I mean, I
can say we are powerless nation because we haven't been asked
about what to do. But the majority, overwhelming majority
of the people, they feel powerless. They feel they have
no future. And they feel that they cannot decide even next
day what to do.
He said that since US and Israeli airstrikes began, a third of
Tehran's population has fled the city while food prices have
tripled. But he said that many Iranians who despise the regime
have now given up hope that the war will help topple it.
Do you think that Israel and the US may have misjudged how
determined the Iranian regime is to survive?
Yes, that's true. It proved to be capable to survive for many
days to come. They underestimated the brinkman policy,
brinkmanship, that they are ready at any cost, at any cost to
stay in power.
If the United States really wants to help the people of
Iran, what should it do at this point?
First and foremost, stop the war and negotiate.
